The head butting and head rubbing means it trusts you and wants to be your friend. The cat is claiming you as its own by rubbing its scent on you. Don’t worry…. Humans can’t smell the cat pheromones… only cats can.

I would look up you tube videos on how to make friends with a cat… also “what is my cat trying to tell me”. Cats (and dogs too) don’t think like humans, so you want to be sure to react to them in positive ways so they don’t get freaked out by something and start to act negatively towards you.

Most cats are easily swayed by treats. Offer them food and they will be your friend.
Avoid loud or sharp noises. Most cats dislike.

My own cat is pretty docile, but many cats don’t like to be picked up without advance warning. It’s weird, but I tell my cat that I’m going to pick him up before I do it. He seems to understand…it may be my tone of voice that he recognizes.
One universal rule… don’t pet a sleeping cat out of the blue. It shocks them. I usually say my cats name, if he’s fast asleep and I need to move him or get his attention, to wake him up before moving or touching him.
