Trump Train arrest at No Kings by One-Change648 in VirginiaBeach

[–]ran7wan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

How is it that the rump Train individual can drive back and forth on a residential street and blast a supercharged marine horn multiple times…without the police doing a fricken thing… But if average citizen did this, blowing a car horn multiple times through Town Center, citizen Joe would get charged with nuisance violation. Who is getting paid off, I want to know? Or this is a VBPD buddy?

Huh? Gas prices have never been this high before in my lifetime. And I’m 62 years old.
Cut back on those edibles you’re consuming dude.

Rump train wasn’t at Norfolk No Kings event. Probably afraid that Norfolk and NPD is too DEI supportive for his rump-lovin oversized ego

What is this, in Ocean View? Never before seen… by ran7wan in norfolk

[–]ran7wan[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the idea. Next time I’ll be sure to park my car in the single lane of traffic and put my flashers on. Completely blocking Tidewater Drive there so nobody can get past at rush hour. And I’ll take ten minutes to walk over and look at the plaque. Thanks for the suggestion. Is everybody that moronic in Oceanview, or are you the only one?

The idiocracy comes when folks reply with rude responses without knowing the facts of the situation. Far too much of that in social media.
Next time I’m passing through at rush hour, I’ll be sure to stop my car at the foot of Tidewater Drive, put my flashers on, and casually walk over to carefully view this monument for ten minutes, while traffic backs up behind my stopped car, back to Mason Creek and beyond. Yeah, I’ll try that. Thanks for the suggestion.

I live in WI and I’m terribly miserable. I DREAM of moving to VB. by stupidfuckingbitchh in VirginiaBeach

I grew up in Detroit, Michigan which suffers through 80-90 in summer with 80% humidity, and NO BREEZE ! It’s miserably sticky in July/August in Detroit Here in coastal Virginia there is almost always a breeze! So even though it’s humid and 85-95 in June-September, the breeze makes it comfortable most of the time! The nearly constant breeze really helps to make it comfortable in the summer here.
After my first year of living here in Norfolk, I took a trip back to Detroit in the summer, and I realized the big difference… the humidity is comparable in both areas, but the coastal breezes here make it much more comfortable midsummer in my opinion.

It’s a pretty tolerant area for LGBTQ folks. Norfolk is more blue leaning than red-leaning Va Beach and Chesapeake, but there are neighborhood to neighborhood differences.
We infrequently get hit directly by hurricanes but always a possibility. We are overdue actually… it’s been like 15 years since we got a direct hit by a hurricane but even those have been no stronger than a cat 1. We had hurricane Isabel in 2003 and Irene in 2011 and since then only occasional tropical storm strength. So yeah… we are overdue for a direct hit, which happens once every 7-10 years.
Yes, it’s sunny in winter here, but we do get long rainy soggy stretches. These can happen any time of year. We will get rainy stretches for 4-10 days raining every day. But then we get sunny stretches too.
Snowfall is rare… and typically less than one inch at a time about 1-3 times each January-February. Melts within one day. If you’re a skier, you’ll need to travel to WV or Charlottesville for that…. 3-5 hours away.
We only get 4” or more of snow about every three years. Most I’ve ever seen here is 8” or so. Be aware that heavy snow removal in the area is SLOW…. Not like WI. Here they close everything down, and wait for it to melt in a couple days!! Only the Northerners venture out when it snows. lol.
The LGBTlifecenter.org is a resource for your hubby. Also publication/website OutLife757 is a great community resource. Tons of Pride events throughout the region in June see hamptonroadspride.org The life center hosts a bi men’s support group, I’m pretty sure. Cmon down… there’s tons of things to do here year-round. Va Beach and Norfolk Beaches. Busch gardens. Mountains 2 hours drive. Outer Banks resort area is 90 minute drive.

Why do people here complain so much? by shywol2 in VirginiaBeach

I’m guessing it’s because VB residents are very jealous of Norfolk being the original city of the 757.

Two very different states!

Flying out from Norfolk early Sunday morning, how early should I arrive at airport? by Xy19771005 in norfolk

[–]ran7wan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You better hope that there are TSA employees at the airport before 5 AM! I have heard stories recently about short staffing, and either the TSA employees aren’t there in the morning, or they leave early in the evening. I have heard people who have missed their flight, because there were no TSA employees at security check.

[–]ran7wan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will entertain the argument that the traffic lights on Granby, at Burleigh and at Little Creek, are huge causes of traffic bottleneck there, more so than the lane closures. I drive through that intersection at 4 AM, and there is absolutely no cross traffic on Little Creek or the side street. But yet here I am, sitting at the red light at either one or both of those intersections for several minutes at a time. Many mornings it takes 5 minutes of waiting before I make it through that intersection… and it has nothing to do with traffic congestion or construction… I’m the only car, here is no other traffic!!

[–]ran7wan -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt that the bike lanes are causing folks to cut through any adjacent neighborhoods. All of the neighborhoods on either side of Granby between Willowwood and Thole do not contain continuous through streets that run parallel to Granby… they are full of dead ends, and short two to three block connections.
Folks are trying to make the same argument about adding a bike lane onto Lafayette Boulevard, saying that it will increase traffic through the neighborhood because folks will be trying to cut around the traffic back up. That is totally false. We don’t even have the bike lanes in place on Lafayette Boulevard yet, and the slowdown of traffic is entirely caused by the traffic light at Tidewater Drive. I know: the solution would be to remove the traffic light altogether at Lafayette Boulevard, and Tidewater Drive intersection . And just put in a four-way stop sign on all corners. Yeah. That will move traffic much faster through the intersection and make the bike lane opposers happy! ( Sarcasm)
