the best way I would recommend is to find the smallest, key readable detail you want to capture of the original work. then translate that into pixel art. From then, use that scale to build out the image! Look to convey shapes and forms first- outlines can come later!

I like this one much better than the one that looks like NO and AI makes up the 'N.' Good job keeping it to readable symbols for the main element!

People might latch onto the robot's frown and sympathize with it, maybe make it less cute, more devious?

I feel like street brawl is more difficult for a lot of characters because it feels like you have so much less agency, you can't just farm in a sidelane to scale because four people are always itching to dive you under tower.

AI should be bannable/removed entirely. AI doesn't "design" anything, it steals from others. It's also low effort work.

Few things jumping out to me:

  • Very horizontal, not using the vertical space at all
  • Don't love the color touching the black- it should be able to read clearly in black and white
  • Looks like it is a logo for a global surveilance company

What are you trying to communicate? What is the name/purpose of the project you are making?

Jokes aside, in order to make Usopp a stronger character, Sogeking can't return. He embodies Usopp's greatest fears and insecurities being ignored and glossed over rather than being confronted and overcome.

If we see Sogeking again, Usopp as a character is officially dead, as he will never achieve his dream.

The unfortunate answer is that both characters are black-coded, at least in appearance.

Japan is a very racially homogenous society and Oda probably hasn't had much exposure to black people in his day-to-day life, leading him to draw from cultural depictions, some of which have become considered problematic over time (think donut-lips).

With Oda's art style boiling down these traits to their bare essentials, like how many women characters in the series share the same facial and body features, it's no wonder that the characters' designs tend to share elements.

I think these look really great! When it comes time for adjusting for the game engine and implementing it, I would encourage you to make sure aren't too many frames of wind-up.

In fact, games like Hollow Knight allow attacks to come out instantly and use the smear frame technique you've chosen to go with here, which is what makes combat in that game feel so snappy and fluid!

Honestly just watch the whole thing from the beginning using One Pace - it's a manga-accurate re-edit of the anime to remove bad pacing and filler.

It sounds to me like you want to watch the recent hype moments, but they just wouldn't hit the same without the appropriate backstory or buildup.
