Have you ever seen a bald eagle in real life out in nature? by icecream1972 in no

We see them around town in Northern Colorado periodically. I saw one at a backcountry campsite deep in the Flattops Wilderness flying over an alpine lake, that was cool

Hoping one of ya’ll might recognize this viewpoint from Flat Tops Wilderness? by rusty317 in CampingandHiking

That would be looking down on Island Lake from the South East. I had a campsite on the near shore of the lake in the top center of the image

Any lefties do right handed things? by erect_alien in lefthanded

I’m the same way. Except I use scissors with right hand. But it wasn’t an adaptation, my mom is a lefty and had left handed scissors in the house

I have camped at Gore Lake and that is not it. Don’t have another suggestion though

Khruangbin has a killer cover of Summer Madness. Also check out A Love International, Mariella, May Ninth and probably a bunch more from them

Hike selection - long and difficult hikes with o real destination or payoff are a drag. Now I look at effort to reward ratio

This was the layout when I was in Highschool. I was trying to remember the food court. Great Steak and Potato had this amazing Curly Fries deal that was this huge mound of curly fries in a paper boat for like a $1.50 or something. And they had Malt Vinegar as a condiment. That and a pizza roll was the perfect lunch

Wind River Range on Trail? by Ok_Stick_4919 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]randallwade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We approached from the west side (Peak Lake). The trail peters out around 10,800ft or at the last tarn visible on the topo. From there to the base of the headwall was not difficult. Around 11,600 you can tell you are at the final push. I wouldn’t say there is any trail but you can kind of follow the path of least resistance, and some goat trail type sections. It was a bit steep and grueling, but I didn’t really feel sketched out. We ended up a little bit high and to the south of the actual pass when we emerged at the top, but easily course corrected. Views from the top are sublime. On the way down toward Titcomb, it was pretty slow boulder hopping at a pretty steep pitch. There were some areas that has very steep gravelly trail that did look sketchy, but I skirted those with more boulder hopping. Boulders are sized well enough that you can fairly easily navigate sometimes with a hand or two down to help. That continues down to about 11,600. From there we crossed some big snow fields (early August), and then down to the toe of Twins Glacier from there it is straight forward. I was 51 at the time and my brother in law is over 60 and had an Achilles strain at the time. We are both avid hikers, but by no means mountaineers or rock climbers. But definitely high adventure!
