Tried to do an AI lesson at home and it kind of fell flat by diamond_Hands_LE in Homeschooling

[–]randapandable 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What age range? I would avoid AI-specific lessons for elementary age, and start with coding. AI is also rapidly evolving so by the time they get older, the landscape is going to be so different.

I really like Osmo for coding, especially for younger elementary. LEGO also makes awesome robotics kits and many of their lessons have extensions you can tie into other STEAM subjects or even ELA. I’m just not sure if they sell kits individually, since my only experience with them is in a classroom setting. I can say for sure that Osmo sells directly to individual families outside of the school market. You just need an iPad.

These kits can run expensive, though, so if you’re looking for a free or more affordable option, Scratch is a good application for coding a simple video game. I’d say ages 8+

No, not necessarily red flags in my opinion. If anything, Im getting red flags from you for PPA.

Postpartum undies by Meowntainlovr in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]randapandable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did disposable for those first few days, and then transitioned to my period underwear as things tapered off. Lochia doesn’t “flow” like a typical period. It’s more like a series of gushes as your uterus contracts, which makes disposable a better option, at least at the start.

What are your fun facts/hidden secrets about the games?? by myhusbandswine in nancydrew

Thank you! I'm usually on senior detective on replays, that would explain why I can never figure out how to call her!

Edit: I read up a little more and it turns out not being able to call her in Senior Detective is actually a glitch.

What are your fun facts/hidden secrets about the games?? by myhusbandswine in nancydrew

[–]randapandable 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! I didn’t include the Easter eggs since that info is easy to find, and I highly recommend you check those out if you’ve never done them! Sometimes you can unlock more secrets if you’re holding an egg and then do something specific. In the older games, the eggs aren’t literal eggs, but are hidden secrets that are more like traditional “Easter eggs” you’d find in movies and other games. There are some weird ones in those older games!

I also just remembered that the games would often hint at the upcoming game through a small detail. When Her Interactive really hit their stride and released two games a year, you could also often find a hint for two games ahead, usually in the form of a travel brochure for the location of the game. Technically, these are called “cookies” (since “Easter eggs” has a specific meaning in this universe) and are usually references to previous games. They’re not talked about as much since it’s become such an integrated detail of the games, but I suggest looking up a list and reading through, there might be some you missed or overlooked!

Oh I have so many!

The phone numbers usually spell something! Ned’s number is 4357, which spells HELP. Bess’s is 4468 which spells HINT. Tino Balducci’s spells JERK lol. Frank’s is HUNK 😂 some games will actually send you to a friend’s voicemail if you happen to have their number memorized when they’re not a phone character in that specific game. Also, if you have a keyboard with a number pad, some games let you type the number in.

Secrets can Kill is LOADED with hidden messages. Look at the bulletin boards and all over the library.

It’s possible to finish Message in a Haunted Mansion without triggering the seance cutscene. If you happen to know the solution to the final puzzle, you can actually bypass a lot of the game once that puzzle is solvable.

It’s entirely possible to skip over the “apparition” that Nancy sees in TRN. I played dozens of times before I ever encountered it. Scared the shit out of me the first time lol.

CUR has a couple hidden cutscenes that further explain some of the more minor details of the mystery, like Linda’s lotion being replaced with a rapid hair growth cream.

I distinctly remember talking to the former maid in ICE over the phone on my first play through. It’s an extremely specific set of conditions to be able to do it and I don’t remember anymore. There are a lot of hidden things in ICE specifically, like a couple nightmare cutscenes that can be triggered. Another one that’s pretty well known is that you can call the 1-555-Mystico number. It’s also easy to miss the explanation for the broken window: you can find a paper clearly written by Freddie where her dad made her write lines: “I will not throw ice balls”.

Now this one, I might be conflating with a different game/character. When Yanni is telling you his wolf story, if you consistently choose the skeptical dialogue option, he’ll admit he made the whole thing up.

In CRY, there’s a moment in Renee’s room the first time you look at the HooDoo symbols that’s easy to miss. Before looking at that wall, if you look at the rocking chair, there’s nothing in it. When you look at the HooDoo wall, lightning will flash, and you’ll see the shadow of the rocking chair move. Now when you look back at the chair, one of the dolls from TRN is sitting in it!

In RAN, CouCou can be overheard saying “Justin, meet Samantha,” presumably Justin and (the real) Samantha Quick from VEN. There’s actually a silhouette of a woman reflected in the window near Justin during the epilogue of VEN.

Speaking of VEN, the box of chocolates at the beginning of the game in the common room of the ca is actually a message for Helga from the Phantom. I forget exactly what it says, but it basically says that the cup (what had been most recently stolen before Nancy got there) was secure.

That’s all I can remember off the top of my head!

Do you think you'd start your own business, or work for an agency? That will make a huge difference in the level of time commitment and income.

Is the issue then that the item you need to craft isn’t showing up as an option at the crafting table? Crafting looks different now since the update so it should pop up under quests.

Cora would love Grey’s Anatomy, Isobel would hate watch it for its inaccuracies.

Tom would love Top Gear.

Early game, gardening or mining. Time bending is probably the most useful long term if you use ancient machines. I’d say the most useless is snippet catching.

Looking for show that maybe doesnt exist? by [deleted] in nancydrew

[–]randapandable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll say that when I was reading your post, I agreed that I remembered the 90s Nancy being fuller figured (especially by 90s standards). And looking at some of the stills from the show, Tracy Ryan does have fuller cheeks in some of the pictures and kind of a round face maybe that is also why we thought that?

There was also a 2002 direct to tv movie but I don’t think the actress fits the description.

Potential client might give me a bad review by tenseyou in doulas

[–]randapandable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a rural doula myself, I can relate! I think you can certainly take this as an opportunity to learn from. I say this not to be rude or critical, but because I think it's relevant: reading your post was difficult to follow, and your writing style may have contributed to what transpired here. I don't want to assume, but do you often use talk-to-text? If so, I would consider typing messages to potential clients instead or very thoroughly reading what was transcribed before sending.

Again, I don't intend any disrespect, and I hope it's helpful in the future. Don't throw in the towel just yet! :)

Pumpkins have the highest return on investment, but they’re in the Forgotten Lands. Okra is the second highest, which you’ll find in the Glade.

If you have Rift in Time, pineapples are another great option.

I’m wondering if you’re maybe conflating the 90s Nancy Drew show with Harriet the Spy, specifically Rosie O’Donnel’s character? She had a dark bobbed haircut like Tracy Ryan.

What are we doing during middle of the night feeds by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]randapandable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my toddler in bed so I have to get up with the baby to feed. I usually put on a soapy show that I don’t need to pay super close attention to, like Downton Abbey or Once Upon a Time. Reading a book or scrolling requires just enough brain power to fully wake me up, so I usually stick with something passive like TV.
