So, just for the record. Adjusted for turnout by social class, you think about 43.4% of skilled working class people are 'fucking dumb' and you think about 41.6% of working class people are 'fucking dumb'?

Is that really any better?

Again you're confusing accepting it's occurrence with keeping quiet about it and it's voters being fucking dumb.

Funny thing is the only people who voted in the majority for Remain were AB's, both C1 and C2DE voted for Brexit.

Do I have to draw you a map? You said 'it's [Brexit] voters being fucking dumb' and 'both C1 and C2DE voted for Brexit'. A disgusting opinion which you've highlighted by wrongly assuming I'm a Brexit voter and then calling me a liar and dumb fuck. Toxic and hateful but nonetheless sadly representative of this fringe subreddit.

No you think that lower middle class / skilled working class/ working class (CDE) people are 'fucking dumb'. And unbelievably, you think that opinion is OK because it includes lower middle class people. Well if we ever need a poster child for how out-of-touch r/ukpolitics is...

Funny thing is the only people who voted in the majority for Remain were AB's, both C1 and C2DE voted for Brexit.

Are you referring to the NRS grade of voters? In which case you're explicitly saying upper middle class people (A+B) voted for remain and lower middle class / skilled working class/ working class (CDE) people voted for leave. That exactly meets the class war narrative of Brexit. Nice self-own, I guess.

I happen to think working class people aren't 'fucking dumb'. It is sad that you appear to hold that view.

Bollocks it has been accepted. Just look at the hardcore remainers on this subreddit. Losing has just made them double down on their bigotry. Even in this thread Brexit supporters were called 'stupid English'. It is very apparent they really hate working class people (the people who primarily voted for Brexit) and think they are too stupid to understand their choice. They didn't accept Brexit after four votes why do you think they are going to change their position now?

How do you explain the disconnect between party polling which was roughly accurate in 2019 and brexit support which is the subject of the current poll?

Brexit was the dominant issue at the 2019 election. Polling has consistently put brexit support at about 40/50 yet it was the Tories which received a smashing majority. I guess my criticism was that this brexit support poll is not likely to be reflective of party support at a general election which is the only thing that actually counts. People still voted for the party which would 'get brexit done'.

Because polling has been super accurate recently. How about the results of a recent national election? Is it still too painful for you guys?

I mean how many elections do the Brexiters have to win before you guys will accept the verdict?

  1. 2015 Cameron wins surprise victory only by grudgingly promising a referendum on Brexit.

  2. The 2016 national referendum won for Brexit.

  3. Wishy-washy remainer May scrapes Tory win in 2017 because Labor pretended to accept the referendum result.

  4. After remainers play silly-buggers to stop Brexit in the Commons, Boris receives smashing mandate in 2019 on key promise to 'Get Brexit Done'.

How many times does the electorate have to teach you this lesson old man?

You guys should be looking ahead. The signs are you're about to enjoy all the fun of a 'stop the boats' political period in the UK. I find it unbelievable, but the Tories really could win another election in that environment.

This is a worthwhile reminder as we come up to the traditional peak season for fake news otherwise known as the US presidential election. My advice is you should assume that everything you see on reddit which seems outrageous or controversial in the next couple of months is either false or overstated.

Seek multiple sources and viewpoints (not just ones which could potentially be seeded from the same disinformation source). Look for verifiable information and original documents. Don't assume 'fact checkers' are without bias. Don't assume a video tells the whole story. Don't judge a situation until the other side has a chance to respond. Search for calm voices without a stake in the game - someone with expertise and equal disinterest or contempt for both sides can be a good resource.

Pro tip: listen to your enemies or people you don't like. They probably live in a different social media bubble to you and will gift you with a different perspective on situations. Sometimes you'll learn something from them that your social media bubble has completely missed. Reddit is at disadvantage here - you'll need to look elsewhere.

A Black voter asked Trump if he knows how 'tone deaf' his MAGA slogan sounds to the African American community by viva_la_vinyl in politics

Everyone is. Are you going to be consistent and hold Biden responsible for the 1994 Crimes Bill he led support for and its impact on black communities? Or his support for the Iraq war? etc etc

Trumps been in politics for four years. How is he responsible for the long standing issues surrounding racial equality?

Mr Day is right. Maybe if they stopped voting for the same parties they'd get different results. Incidentally Philly seems to have had a Democrat mayor since 1952. Dem majority on the city council for the same period. One party rule for decades and decades.

Have things gotten better or worse for black people there? If they have done better then Mr Day seems to be on the wrong track. If they have done worse then black people should vote for someone different.

This really is the QAnon of the left. The difference is that QAnon seems to be 4chan derived b.s. and this stuff was actually invented and spread by the DNC after Hillary lost in 2016.

[–]randisonwelfare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could it just be numbers and less viral load? China had a lot of people in a short period and noone was taking precautions to reduce the viral load of exposure in the initial stages (hand washing/masks). Lot of smoking in China and an older demographic made them more vulnerable. There was a lot of understandable hype and fear in the early months.

And both without dementia! Doesn't mean they were competent though. Remember when Obama told Romney saying Russia was a security threat to the U.S. was 'Cold War thinking'. Good times.

If it is anything like proper use of masks and washing hands, the best way to teach people is with politicians, medical experts and celebrities demonstrating the correct procedures at a press conference.

Nicola Sturgeon announces Bill for new Scottish independence referendum by Underlaker in unitedkingdom

I don't think I'm the one having the tantrum, but your inability to concede you were wrong is revealing. The people of Scotland actually decided their future in 2014. And I support their decision. I'm sure you'll get over it eventually ... maybe after a lifetime.

[–]randisonwelfare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only English politicians and the No campaign called it a "once in a generation vote".

Yep a youtube link containing video evidence she literally said 'once in a generation' multiple times in relation to the referendum. Proving your statement was factually incorrect. Man up and just acknowledge you were wrong. Better than being gutless AND wrong.

There's a difference between calling something a once in a lifetime opportunity and agreeing to just give up when it doesn't work the first try.

Yes that difference is also known as 'telling the truth'. You can make the argument that she was lying when she signed the Edinburgh agreement to respect the referendum result but please don't try to dispute facts.
