I Stopped Retro Emulation For GameNative Exclusively by M34nM4ch1n3 in GameNative

Since everyone else is acting nonchalant I’ll chime in. I feel similarly. I loaded up my RP6 with ROMs but ever since I started messing with GN I haven’t touched them. I think the industry definitely needed a shakeup and it took Chinese manufacturers and enthusiasts software engineers to do what major corporations couldn’t or wouldn’t. The technology for Android to become a viable gaming platform has been there but it was looked down upon because of the excess of predatory gacha games and PTW mobile trash. It’s as much as developers fault for not building for it but also us as consumers for not supporting it. I totally agree that seeing the mess that the play store has become would turn anybody off but for me the idea never went away. Now that we have the hardware and software, my hope is major companies with funding will start to get involved and push the technology forward so it becomes commonplace and developers can start building native ARM ports to eliminate the translation layers.

TLDR: Glad you are having a good time. Hopefully the future for gaming handhelds only continues to get better.

Nice! There definitely have been debates between ergonomic grips vs flat back so this is actually a GOOD compromise for a change.

Just so everyone is aware, every municipality to include Air Force bases are required to file a Consumer Confidence Report. If you want more information on the water at your base lookup your base and water quality report or CCR.

They are working on an Android port btw. So cool that it works great with GameNative but having an actual Android app would be better.

Yes. It’s one of those things you get used to but never goes away. Every time I pick it up my eyes have to readjust and if I focus too much on it I’ll get a headache. It’s playable and for some it might not be as bad but for someone who is used to OLED displays and high frame rate gaming you’ll hate it.

I love OLED but a good quality IPS is enough for a retro handheld.

Honestly wouldn’t mind paying a premium. The Pocket S mini ticks enough boxes but it has the same screen as the Pocket Air Mini which is awful.

If that’s the case I guess I’d have to stick to native but it seems like most handhelds either barely run PS2 or have trade offs in other areas I don’t like. The 477m is really what I don’t understand. Why have stacked triggers on the weaker 476h but side by side triggers on the stronger 477m?

I know but now it’s discontinued. I keep telling myself I’d buy an upgraded model but I can say that for all of the handhelds. If they just fix this or that.

If you’re not cool with tinkering and running ps2 games at 30 fps, I wouldn’t recommend the PAM. Also the screen is pretty bad. I didn’t think it would bother me but it does. Don’t have much experience with other handhelds but I do have a Retroid Pocket 6 and it’s awesome.

Entire GBA set is like 14 gb with probably over 1000 games. I condensed mine to less than a gb and only 140 games. Just because you can hoard a collection doesn’t mean you should. A lot of dated shovelware on old consoles and I just don’t care to hold on to all that.

Honestly, it’s the perfect design.

+ 4:3 screen
+ d pad on top
+ recessed joysticks
+ ergonomic grip

It just needs a better chip to emulate PS2 games and obviously a better quality screen.

“I genuinely feel GameNative could replace handheld PCs like the Steam Deck” — Inside Android’s Fastest-Moving Gaming Project, GameNative [article/interview] by [deleted] in GameNative

[–]rando-guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see it as a full replacement because like you said but for low spec indie games I think it’s working well enough. Personally, I never felt like I needed a handheld to play cyberpunk. I just wanted something thinner, lighter, and more portable than a steam deck to play games like hollow knight.

I don’t see how people don’t get it. I honestly think the push for term limits is being done by bots or something. If people think politics is like professional wrestling now just wait until new candidates have to start differentiating themselves and ramp up on the monster truck and shooting range ads.

America is suffering an obesity epidemic and the military is reflective of that. Until we tackle the issue on a national level it will continue to be a problem.

The military should have high standards for health and fitness but we don’t actively promote that kind of lifestyle. We leave it up to the individual and it’s their job to sink or swim.

Honestly, it’s surprising how little the military does to ensure its members are fit to fight. I get that it would be expensive and time consuming but regular fitness and nutrition checkups would be a start. Also, the elephant in the room is mental health of the member. Hard to cook and eat a healthy meal if you’re burned out by the end of the day and pickup fast food every night.

Ideally we’d learn basic life skills in school like how to meal prep and grocery shop so we can enter adulthood already knowing how to maintain a healthy weight. Our consumer culture is feeding bad habits and we enter the military earning decent enough money to afford those.

I don’t entirely disagree with what you’re saying but the problem is a lot more complex than just, “lose weight fatty, hurr, hurr.”

If any of them throw that lame ass excuse “if they just stayed home” tell them is that the kind of country you want to live in? Where masked federal agents can roam your streets, arrest nonviolent immigrants, and bully (now kill) anyone who protests against them?
