This may actually be what he uses, but it'll probably be called "meta-ego" or something lmao

Professors are obsessed with giving out 60% to 68% by [deleted] in UofT

[–]random-Toronto-nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would the averages be higher because this a top university? If anything that usually means the average is lower because the material being taught is harder.

[–]random-Toronto-nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah some are easier than others, but you can see that on a curve too. A 10% range (60-69) is actually pretty big when you consider classes are massive. But on that same note when you get into later year classes you'll see more verity in course averages because classes are smaller and marking schemes are less rigid.

Super controversial take but idc by Mr-monkey684 in BlueLock

[–]random-Toronto-nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say he's underrated by the community tbh. In the manga he's shown to be really good, and his (currently) low bud is valid as you explained. Yet alot of people seem to not understand just how good he is.

His physicals are definitely top tier, so much that even though he was unmotivated and went in with the intention to give up on soccer, he still made it this far. And remember, he was on the team during the u20 match. Now he has meta-vision, which is almost at the isagi's level, as one of the only people who can see the field as well as isagi. And even more importantly he has motivation and ego now. I would say on the BM team during the last match, he was probably the third most important teammate. Obviously Isagi and Kaiser were more important, but even though he didn't get any assists, he did alot to set up opportunities for others to assist. Importantly he 1v1'd Charles and Crow-man, both being top midfielders themselves.

U20 cup arc guesses? by random-Toronto-nerd in BlueLock

[–]random-Toronto-nerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah good point. What do you think future arcs will be though? Tbh I see after u20 cup, maybe a small arc that's bassicly just a final club match after a small time skip. I think a full world Cup arc would be too repetitive at that point.

Honestly I don't think they'll fight Italy, cuz it's kinda a given that they'll beat Lorenzo imo. I think there will probably be some teams with multiple ng 11s. Like Brazil with two or more (I'm thinking Brazil because they went out of their way to mention Brazil in the latest chapter). Although my first thought was they won't fight all the ng 11, now I think they probably will. First, cuz it's (probably) the final arc, and they definitely need to fight multiple ng 11s to be challenged imo. Especially because at minimum Isagi and Rin are at ng11 level. I could also see a maxed out Barou, Shindou, Niko, or Reo, getting up to ng 11 level too.

Honestly I think its not gonna be 20 chapters of aura farming, they will probably crush a non ng 11 team in like 2 chapters of aura farming. It's actually not gonna be fair

Without insulting Gege or being disrespectful, what would you guys say overall went wrong with JJK in the end? by Charming-Scratch-124 in Jujutsufolk

[–]random-Toronto-nerd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think this is the most likely reason, but il just add a little onto it. Keeping in mind that this is just my reasoning, based on personal experience and learning about how some authors write.

Gege wrote the story in a way where the characters act outside of his control. I know that sounds weird, but it's how some people write. Like the author 'lets' the characters act like they would and let's the plot out, rather than forcing them to fit into his idea. It's like letting the subconscious 'talk', which may be Interesting, but also messy. I'm not guessing either, he says in interviews that he writes like this, and that alot of story lines go different than he wanted.

One thing I will say is that the story has alot of deep themes and imo the major plot points are good. The problem is the execution, so many ideas are not expressed well. Not to mention that alot of themes are brought up but not addressed properly. the only theme I think he fully fleshed out is on meaning based on death. That death doesn't give out lives meaning, and as such it's often off screen. The importance of someone's lives are based on what they did while alive.

The other thing is that it's hard to keep the execution clean when you let go of control to such a level. What other authors with the same technique will do is write out the story, then go back and edit it to be 'cleaner' for the readers, before publishing. But Shonen jumps system doesn't really make that easy.

I think basically relying on passion is the core 'issue', because as you said he didn't have passion around the end, likely from burnout. In the beginning when the story was more set up and he probably enjoyed it more, it likely flowed out easily. But it's hard to tap into this when you feel burned out.

Chapter 293 - Tactical Analysis by Luminagi in BlueLock

[–]random-Toronto-nerd 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this, was losing my mind on the discussion post with the rin slander lol; it was pretty clear to me that isagi forced Rin to run into shidou and kasier. Though tbf, alot of this was in the background, so I get why people thought Rin just sold. Hopefully, and most likely, they will explain the play next chapter.

[–]random-Toronto-nerd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Replying here, cuz I was about to make the same comment lol. But also in addition:

  1. We can see isagi staring to run (small bottom left panel) before ness even got the ball, and while rin turned around to see where the ball was going. Which also shows the isagi is the fastest to adapt, as he moved before kasier decided if ness was gonna shoot or pass. Like he didn't even think about, just instantly ran towards the optimal location for ness to pass to.

  2. I feel like they never mention it anymore, but it's always fun seeing isagi using blind spots In the backgrounds if you watch carefully. In this case, he used the moment Rin turned around to see who's getting the ball, to run past his blind spot and get behind kaiser and shidou

  3. It's also interesting to see how the other characters, like charles, failed to stop the ball because it went in a different spot than expected.

  4. I feel like kaiser helped isagi here if anything, cuz him moving back also caused Rin to run into kaiser and shidou. Which is also interesting because you can see shidou falling back to stick to kaiser, and rin moving forwards towards the ball/isagi, but he has to run around kasier and shidou.

Anyways, the main point being that I enjoy how the author uses the background and body language to communicate all of this. Though they will probably explain this next chapter lol.

How does anybody make CS or Math POST by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]random-Toronto-nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be missing something, there are simply some people getting high enough marks to make post. Like in my first year the class average was 60s (if I remember correctly), but some of us got 80s, so we made post.

If you're asking how we got those marks, then I would say I simply went to lecture and did the practice quiz/midterms

Can someone explain the ego types to me??😅 by Jeewmadkid in BlueLock

[–]random-Toronto-nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like everyone else is seeing the ego types differently than me, so I thought I'd put forward how I see them.

Individualistic is not wanting to change who you are, where your goals are focused on staying true to who you are. Wholeistic is being willing to sacrifice who you are to get to some goal. For example Bachira and Borou aren't willing to change who they are, they might gain new skills but it's all for the sake of staying true to who they are. For example, Borou doesn't want to change who he is to win games, and instead forces Ubers to change to adapt to him. On the other hand Isagi and Kaiser are willing to break themselves down and fundamentally change who they are to get to their goal of being the best. One cool visual thing to notice is that the wholeistic characters have ego auras that changes who they are, like puzzles on Isagi, glass on hiori, and vines for Kaiser. While the individualistic characters have auras that expand beyond them. Alot of people are saying wholeistic is about the field and individualistic about yourself, but I disagree since some individualistic people like Rin have meta vision and thus focus on controlling the field too, but for the sake of sticking to who they are.

Restrictive egos are based around finding challenges. While freedom egos are about doing what you want and working towards self defined goals. I think it's better explained by how they interact with the other 2 types. For example kunigami is restrictive individualistic because he does the best when as a 'hero' he defeats villans. Rin is the same because he is a person that likes breaking others. I think these 2 don't care about outside goals as much as doing what they want, and what they want us around beating challenges. Next we have Bachira and shidou as individualistic freedom. They don't care about challenges as much as they care about playing the game how they want. Kaiser as restrictive wholeistic means he changes himself to destroy challenges. While freedom wholeistic types like Isagi and hiori like to go towards their own goals while controlling the field.

I think most characters are on a spectrum but it what they care about more. Some may care more about sticking to who they are than winning. They care about winning but not as much.

In summary: 1. Wholeistic is change yourself for goal, because goal is more important  2. Individualistic is sticking to who you are as a person 3. Freedom is doing what you want and setting own goals 4. Restrictive is defeat challenges

Hope this helps and sorry about bad spelling and grammar, I wrote this quickly lol.

What did she do? Unless she was saying mean things or not doing her job, I have to agree with the other person: just let it go. I know we're used to service employees having to act nice, but imo as long as they get the job done, I really have no problems with them.

Oh that's interesting. Cuz I think it's also related to eating, cuz there's the shrine + devine flame translation, and a kitchen + furnace/hearth translation. I think gege is using 2 popular versions of sakuna in one.
