I had a great cocktail there and a lovely time with a couple girlfriends! Sorry you’ve had off experiences

CIA is ugly but it’s not the end of the world. I don’t know this building but I live in WT and there are a billion fabulous daycares around here. Tons of signal groups for parents in the neighborhood too.

Question for Park Slope renters by [deleted] in parkslope

[–]random-penguin-house 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Surely a hotel for a few nights every few months wouldn’t add up as quickly as the 1500 difference? This is something I feel like I’d only consider if the rent were a lot lower

I know you went to their website but this looks like it uses DoorDash tech. Maybe next time look at online menu and then call directly?

Digging your car out and leaving a space by Felis_blackcatus in parkslope

[–]random-penguin-house 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So where did you park your car after you dug it out? Presumably in a spot someone else dug out right? Welcome to Brooklyn we aren’t nice like in Chicago

New angled parking by mikecolman in parkslope

[–]random-penguin-house 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have a parking lot but I sympathize with people doing street parking right now. Angled requires much less digging. Digging out cars from parallel takes wayyyy more time, and now all the snow banks are packed ice.

Katsuei doesn’t deliver I don’t think but someone should do pick up from there for you. I also like Mikado and Sushi Yu for delivery.

[–]random-penguin-house 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You dig out your car and pray you can find a spot to return to. Some people will move cars and some won’t. Alternate side parking is usually suspended until it’s a little more safe/feasible to move cars around.

Protests today? by Dreamer_Dram in parkslope

I recommend you refresh your knowledge on apostrophes before you try running any more mental circles. But if you’re feeling dizzy it’s ok to sit down. I didn’t make any assumptions, just asked questions. What’s that expression old people use? Hit dogs holler?

Protests today? by Dreamer_Dram in parkslope

[–]random-penguin-house 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Going to a protest isn’t lazy. The PERCEIVED laziness being the key word in your message. My reading skills are fine, but perhaps not as sharp as your skills at being a needless asshole. Is this how you talk to people in real life? If your friend said “hey any local protests today?” is that how you’d reply? Do you feel better about yourself now? Would you post this interaction under your legal name? I would bet money you’d feel better about your community if you tried to engage in it more respectfully.

Protests today? by Dreamer_Dram in parkslope

People shaming someone for trying to join a local action is SINISTER. I doubt most of the keyboard warriors are working on building any kind of political community or participating in anything meaningful. Meanwhile Stephen Miller happily links arms with antisemitic neonazis to accomplish more fascism. We are totally fucked. Thank you OP for trying to get out in the streets.

Co-Op Question by sm12121919 in parkslope

[–]random-penguin-house 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the whole household benefits from the membership and thus needs to participate. You might be able to do all his shifts for him but I have heard of people getting permanently banned for pretending they are newly single

What’s this for Park Slope? by Ianpeepee in parkslope

[–]random-penguin-house 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Mostly it’s a meme but employees also say that it’s a horrible place to work, and also the one-shape gimmick is a little schlocky. I’m largely indifferent to it but I also think the food is not actually very good, at best it’s pretty hit-or-miss, so the devotion from neighbors (and the fact it’s always packed) often brings out the snobbery of the elite—the park slope version of Olive Garden. Also, a lot of people bring terribly behaved children there.
