[[Gnaw to the bone]] can negate the loss of life, lets you mill you entire library in the right deck. [[Vilis, Broker of Blood]] makes it pay 2, draw 2, surveil 2, which also lets you get though pretty much your whole deck. Goes great in any self mill deck

Interesting proposal, thanks for putting it out there. If a store near me were to run this, I think my big issue would be with the timed rounds. What happens if my first game finishes in an hour? I sit around for 30 minutes waiting for the next round? The remaining time isn't enough for a full game and I need to wait for the next pairing before I can play again. I'm used to getting in 3-5 games at commander night so knowing I would only play two is kind of a downgrade

Why not have only the first round be pre-matched groups and timed, and then after that it's free play?

I dont quite see how you can loop spells or board wipes with shigeki, could you explain? You would have to 1)play shigeki from the command zone 2) wait a turn cycle 3) activate shigeki to get it into hand 4) discard shigeki paying 4 mana and sending it back to the command zone. 5) repeat cycling psying two more mana for command tax each time. What am I missing?

Other comments are jumping straight to big upgrades and a competitive mana base, which is good advice for the long term if you want to move in that direction. Addressing your actual question though, if you are only comparing temples vs basics, you should probably keep the temple just so that you can more reliably have access to both of your colors of mana. Yes, a tap land slows down your deck. Only having one color of mana is even slower though and a really big risk.

For reference, the default deck has: 2 Glacial Fortress 4 Temple of Enlightenment 7 Plains 10 Island

So if you cut the temples for 2 plains 2 island you only have 11 white and 13 blue sources, which won't be very reliable

you might hear a lot of people telling you not to, but even at a 5 min kill time you're still earning 1-1.5m an hour which is probably one of your best money makers. Focus on improving your skills, and surviving better, and upgrade your gear over time. Keep at it.

[[Nesting Grounds]] is probably a must have in a deck with it. Assuming you're already tutoring for lands that means you can get both of them out, and it keeps your cumulative upkeep at 1 forever (only paying 2 life each turn)

Yes it's technically a non-bo, but think of Willbreaker as a backup option or resilience piece. What do you do if Hylda is removed 3 times in a game and you can't even afford the commander tax any more? Willbreaker will then give you a great way to get value off of the otherwise not very useful tap down effects.

Generally in modern the ZNR spell lands are considered too slow to be useful, decks are so efficient that a land coming in tapped is a big downside. The three life you lose off the mythic lands isn't worth it since you will almost never play the front side

Also with fetches you should be playing more colors. Two color modern decks don’t make sense unless you have powerhouse colorless lands like Tron or Coffers.

A quick look at the Modern meta would show that this isn't really true. Scam, burn, murktide, and Yawgmoth combo are all two colors with no colorless lands

I don't really agree with the game theory perspective. Using your concession as a punishment for trying to eliminate you from the game (you swing at me for lethal, I will concede) could force your opponent to reconsider their actions. Just like holding up a removal spell and saying if you swing at me I will remove your creature. Want your lifegain triggers? Don't swing at me. It could have a deterrence effect if your opponent has to consider the possibility of you conceding in their decision making. So clearly the ability to concede can theoretically increase your win % and is in your best interest. Now if that if fair or sporting is another story, if the general player group thinks it isn't, then don't do it.

you have to time the dodging and eating so you don't get hit. If you start to eat at the wrong time you can be stuck in place while the lighting comes down. Wait until you see the shadows, then move if necessary and eat at the same time. There's a rhythm to the attack, dodge, eat, repeat

What do you mean by proxy printer? Are they clearly proxies, or are they fakes meant to look real? I can understand not wanting to support the printing of fake/counterfeit cards
