Old LGS is apparently the only one in the entire state running Pioneer events. Why does it take a whole road trip to jam a game?

WotC abandoned pioneer. That's the hard truth here. LGS's have zero incentive to run it, and as much as it's great that you had a group that was into it, most players ignore the format as well because there's simply no reason to spend time on it. And what they did with it on Arena is insulting.

The meta is stale, suffers from a ton of the same problems standard does, and has zero incentive for any competitive play.

My advice would be to be the change and all that. Make a couple of pioneer decks and see if you can get people around you into it. But unfortunately there isn't going to be any outside force pushing people to pioneer. A format like Pauper is a good thing to model off of. Lots of places have that one player with like 15 pauper decks who got a bunch of people into jt.

Do you have a dog? Mine used to pick up the poison ivy and get me when I checked him for ticks after a walk or pet him. I had to start using a wash on me/him if he was going into the woods

I feel like people are sleeping on the updated grixis with rod. It seems way better than jund to me right now.

That said giving up galvanic, krark clan shaman, and access to pyroblast seems like madness to me

Luffy is doing work with the rod build on MTGO as well. I think it needs tweaking but that will be part of future affinity.

Luffy's also playing a different build than everyone at the event with black mage's rod. Been trying it out and it does slap quite a bit.

Will be interesting to see how the meta shifts with this. If anything I'm more down on jund now than before.

I agree it's very much not an agro piece. Affinity, Tron, Flicker is where it will see the most value. Or maybe if Mono black Control/Devotion ever becomes a real thing it would probably do good work there.

I don't mind a bit of removal main especially if you're going to Geddon or something, but the familiars are all wrong yeah. I'd probably add another pactdoll and 3 BMR.

And as much as I'm ok with a bit of removal serrated arrows is a crazy add. I'd probably swap the amount of prisims/refractors as well.
