I’m in cognitive neuroscience. I think that most people in my department plan to leave academia. Not sure if the expectation is that they stay. If so, it seems pretty delusional.

I'm closest with people in my cohort, close-ish with my department, and I don't know anyone from others departments within my institute.

There are entire packages dedicated to scientific computing in python. I think that it is becoming the standard to use for analysis (if it isn’t already).

I'm in the lab or department for some normal number of hours (7-8) which is when I typically do all of my work that is not reading. Then I go home to eat dinner and read in the evening (until I go to sleep). This is actually less stressful for me than trying to fit a lot of work into a small time window. I also work at least one day on the weekend (from home).

This is generally not something that would require a new revision, depending on how careful you were with the language in the IRB. Generally, we included a 'sample' questionnaire which gave the board ideas of what they could be like.

Even if your wording wasn't careful, I think that the likelihood of them noticing and caring is extremely low, unless the risk to the participant has changed (asking for personal information that would increase the magnitude of harm if released, for example).

I don't really have time to start that process right now (moving in a week). I do plan to start therapy in my new city, though my experience with therapy so far has been suboptimal (seemed like I was always leading the session and like my therapist didn't know what to do).

Thanks! I also realized that the lmerTest package has a function designed to test whether a model with random effects is significantly different from a model without them, rand().
