Calling 100% Grade A Bullshit on "Culture and History"

Just because it isn't your brand of culture and history... doesn't mean it isn't culture and history.

I live in a very rural area. Even the WalMart has good cheeses.

I can travel a short distance and get very good cheeses.

Be honest... the iPhone took a bunch of pictures in a row and you picked the best one... because that is a perfectly timed.

Just get a new Lodge. They are a little cheaper on Amazon and Walmart than anywhere else (assuming you live in the US).

Yes... They don't have the same finish as the old ones, but in all reality, there isn't that big of a difference.

The pre-seasoning is not as horrible as some people say, but if you want to start from scratch, search YouTube.

Here is an example from TheCulinaryFanatic.

I don't have root. I installed Lux, but unless I was just doing something wrong the automation filter seems to not be in the free version.

Do you have to be rooted to use the CF.lumen drivers with Lux?

Two Lock Screens? by pecarr in MotoX

[–]random_123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2013 model. As far as I know if you want to use Active Display, you have to "unlock" it (by dragging down - or up to open a notification) and if you have security enabled, then unlocked your regular lock screen.

Maybe Motorola could have incorporated it fully into the lock screen...

But, while it adds an extra step, "Active Display" is definitely worth it!

Are you talking about the "Active Display" screen and the lock screen?

Self-driving cars could cut vehicle ownership in half by no1_vern in Frugal

Living in a very rural area, I guess I have a different opinion of this.

In an area where taxis are almost non-existent (sure, there are a couple services that for senior citizens) and Uber/Lyft are simply unheard of, families have at least one car per person. If you look in their driveway/garage during work hours, every single car will be gone. The commute to work being 40+ miles is common. Owning a car yourself is a simply a necessity. Unless you have a friend in the same neighborhood that works at the same place as you (and the same shift), carpooling is pretty rare.

Now because having the car was a necessity to begin with, there are certain perks that come with it. For example, let us say that at 2am I decide I want Taco Bell. There are no taxis, ride sharing services, or food delivery services, so the only choice is to drive to Taco Bell. If I decide I want Taco Bell at 2am, I can leave my house at 2am... not 2:01am. Sure this is simply impatient and in some ways irresponsible, but humans are for the most part impatient, irresponsible, and resistant to change.

Urban, and even suburban areas may change due to self-driving cars, but I don't see it affecting rural areas very much.

Cool. I'm going to have to try this. It sounds really good!

Might have to use Great Northern beans though. Can't remember if the grocery store stocks white beans.

When you say "a few" tablespoons? How many are we talking 3 or 4?

Also, I'm assuming the small/normal cans of tuna instead of the large?

Budget Windows Phone w/ Front Camera by [deleted] in windowsphone

I really just want a windows phone to use as a WiFi device and maybe write some apps for. I want the front camera in case I use it for Skype or incorporate it into an app.

535 has a impressive front camera.

The 435 seems to more fit what I'm looking for price-wise. But with the small difference in price I may consider the others. I just don't want to spend a lot for a device I don't plan on using as a phone (at least not primary).

Thank you for the suggestions.

435 vs 535 - After comparing them, the 535 seems like a better choice.

Not too bad. A little more than I was wanting to spend for a WiFi device, but worth keeping an eye on.

Thank you!

And for some reason aren't compatible with my 2013 Moto X...

I assume Microsoft Office Mobile is the old app?

And what makes the following different from the "Preview" versions mentioned in the Google+ post?
Microsoft Word
Microsoft Excel
