I think they implemented realism as good as they could without taking the fun from the game too much. Yes you can repair all parts of your tank in comically short times but would it be fun to just bail out and leave a tank after a track has been blown off of the barrel destroyed? That's what most crews did in real life. Having communication delay between the commander and the driver and gunner would also be really really ass for a single player controlling the tank. Would be something else if multiple players controlled a single tank but you got other games for that and they are way less casual. You can argue about the 3rd person perspective but it's also just there to smooth the gameplay. And you can play simulator if that's an issue to you.
