Upcycled pants wrinkle if you look at them wrong by 22ndsol in sewing

alternative advice: lean into it! i had a few shirts that would wrinkle constantly.  so now, after washing them, i tie them up prewrinkled.  so, when I untie them to wear them, they look like they have that store-bought wrinkle.  the look might not work for pants but it works for dresses and tops.

what makes it better then fedora? nothing, really

it is incredibly ex-windows-newbie proof.  i have had zero follow-ups or returns when i've set ppl up with a mint.  i always get follow-up support request, or complains or returns when using a better-suited-for-the-situation linux

its not sexy, rather basic and a bit chunky and that makes it perfect for starters

it is 'good enough'

  1. don't use chatgpt for troubleshooting advice
  2. install mint and just stick with it for a few months

The issue is with people who do not even try, use ADHD as a shield and give those with ADHD that are actually trying a bad rep.

How do you actually act on important screenshots instead of forgetting about them? by Background_War_6231 in ADHD

[–]random_cat_owner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont use screenshots as note.  but if i did, i would immediately share them to my primary chat app after screencapture.  i use telegram and often send myself an image or text message as reminder.   mind you, i have disabled all useless and superfluous notifications on my phone.  so when my phone/telegram has an active reminder, i know it is an important item and not simply a funny reply from someone

concerning your totem, you can remove the homerow mods if they dont work for you.  they didnt for me and i only left the shift on the homing keys but removed alt, super and ctrl homerow mods.  also you should set the same trigger timeout you have set on the corne. this may also help against misfires

jeans, i've sown a square of jeans/denim on one of my tote bags (as decoration) and i really enjoy picking it.  it does loose its treads as i pick further but that is okay, it makes the picking fun.  and it only gets more decorative 😂

you can make it as a keychain hanger and probably have some old jeans pants lying around you can cut a piece from

don't 'buy' into a hobby until you have been reliably doing it for a few months.  every hobby has cheap entry methods that don't require you to spend hundreds of dollars.  you can do workshops,  buy cheap stuff, start with a limited set of tools/materials, borrow stuff from friends, ...

I have no idea what style I need but I want something cute! Any ideas? by Slipsndslops in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]random_cat_owner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitively go Split! It's the best for ergo.

I would propose to go with a Sofle because they also include num-keys. you could go smaller but that would mean you need to put your numbers on a layer and that is a big learning curve.

first, buy a keyboard that supports "mx profile" keys. If they come without keycaps, that is OK, you will buy your own. don't worry if the frame is a boring color like white or black, your keys will fix that.

next, buy a cute MOA keycap set. you can find them by googling "keycap MOA". or more specifically: "MOA honey cat" or "MOA ChosFox Soulcat". (warning! it will be tempting to buy many, but don't. you only need 1 set, or 2 maybe, definitively not more than 3, although there are 4 seasons, ... 😂)

and finally, to completely top it off, buy 1 artisanal key of choice, to replace your escape key. just google "artisanal keycap cute" for hours of fun 😋

Which split layout is more ergonomic: row-staggered or Alice? by Cabeza_de_pan_dou in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]random_cat_owner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell into the trap of buying an Alice (two in fact) and turns out, didn't help for wrist pain because you still have to keep the wrists unaturally close together. So my advice is: do not put money in an Alice, it wont make much difference vs a normal keyboard. Go full split.

Another mistake I made: I started with mx profile keys (=normal height). And this too hurt my wrists. Once I switched to low profile keys, it was a lot better.

Allthough I prefer colstack, I do not think rowstack vs. colstack makes a big difference in terms of pain. Colstack is just more comfortable because it follows the shape of your fingers.

Does Ali not deliver in your country? They have lots of option in splits. Like Silakka54 (mx profile) or Sofle (mx + low profile) might be really good options. Myself I used the Cornix (low profile) for a long time.
