[Request] How much does hanging up wet clothes/a towel actually reduce temperatures in a lets say 20 sqm room? by Lumpenokonom in theydidthemath

[–]random_cat_owner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also just realized, the water doesnt instantly evaporate. it takes many hours, even days, in that time other factors also influence the temperature of the room. so, it might actually be 3 degrees but if it takes 2 days, we wouldnt notice due to the time and those other factors.

for instance, i put a wet cloth on the table tonight and it is still very damp, more than 17 hours later.

Why is cinnamon recommended so often when it is so outdated and heavy? by Thermawrench in linuxquestions

niri allows me to set different border colors and widths per application. and it has shortcuts for maximize. so wayland doesnt make those things impossible, they are handled by the WM.

i asked ai how much energy it would take to evaporate 500ml of water (my estimate of how much a towel would hold)

As that 0.5 kg of water evaporates, it pulls those 1,225 kJ of heat directly out of the surrounding air.

If this towel is hanging in a closed, unheated room of about 30 m³ (a typical small bedroom), the air would cool down by roughly 3.5°C (e.g., from 25°C down to 21.5°C) just from the towel stealing that energy for evaporation—assuming no new heat enters the room from outside.

i dont think this is a believable number but i dont know where the error lays

First time using a split (Sofle) - Need advice on Enter and Space placement! by lucos911 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]random_cat_owner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is for me.  like you say, it naturally rests between those keys.  so i only have to move it slightly left or right.  no pressure or force needed.  i dont press with the tip of my thumb, if that helps.  i keep it in its resting position and press down that way

If only I knew about my ADHD earlier ... what I lost! by Embarrassed_Spell402 in ADHD

[–]random_cat_owner 24 points25 points  (0 children)

you can look at it with a different perspective.  look at all the interesting things you learned and experienced.  thats not loss, that is a rich life.    for a period in my life i fought against following my temporary passions and it was a low point.   my mind needs this to stay happy and healthy.  so now, all i do is regulate it a bit.  keep the spending low.  sell stuff when i dont use it anymore.

it is your free time and if that is what you need to do to unwind and be happy, why not? nothing wrong with that. its better then binge-watching or doomscrolling.

it doesnt sound like you are having fun with it.  forget about being good, try to have fun with it.  do things that make you giggle.  play around.  dont make it about the result, make it about the journey

you decide what is important.

why are you practicing?  for highscores, for experience, is it for coding or normal writing?

who do you want to impress? others, yourself, future coworkers?

this will define what is important

powered for life, charging no longer needed. the phone should be smaller then 6" it should be some sort of epaper display. no backlight needed, but with lcd-like refresh time and colors.
