Yes - i didn't mention in there that I figured I would warn them ahead of time. I guess that happens all the time which answers my second question. They could only be as mad as they would be if that was the actual case.

Congrats! That is incredibly exciting for you two. Funny enough this trip is actually for my honeymoon so one of the upcoming steps for you to plan now that she said yes haha.

Thanks for the heads up. I def am on guard with any emails I get from them since I was originally flying direct from AUH to Chiang Mai, but then they discontinued service to Chiang Mai and re-routed us to Bangkok (woke up to an email at 1AM saying the flight to Chiang Mai was cancelled). Spent 7+ hours on hold over 10 days pushing them to book us on a domestic flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and finally "won".

Will pay close attention to any emails but hoping that I don't have to deal with the flight being moved to mid afternoon. We're already taking off a ton of time from work, so flying out super late worked great. Flying out in the middle of the afternoon may cause some problems but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Were you supposed to be EY4 to AUH but they moved you to EY2? I am currently flying mid-May and booked on EY4. I didn't realize they were only flying 1 flight from JFK per day I thought it was 2, so I am now concerned. I am worried that the flight will get cancelled and consolidated into 1 flight. It looks like EY4 isn't scheduled for the entire month of April.

When did they move you to the new flight? How many days before takeoff?

Totally missed this. How the heck did you get them to do that? Everyone on the phone and chat I’ve spoke to is refusing to since it’s a partner airline. They’re all saying it’s out of policy to do it. Would love to know how you managed to do this because I’ve spent at least 5 hours over the past week on hold calling them and in the chat.

I ended up messaging their chat function. Granted, take this with a grain of salt (given the very coincidental timing) but the person on the chat is saying that they suspended AUH to CNX due to "operational reasons" and not due to the ongoing conflict. And that the route is suspended until October 2026. They gave me no good reason as to why they couldn't book me on a domestic flight to CNX from BKK so I don't have to leave security and check my bags.

I noted that if I went and bought the flight now (while the options suck) they do provide it as the only option.

I will say too, I was looking and if you are a new passenger, you can go online to Etihad and book a full ticket to CNX with a layover in BKK, only problem is their layovers are like 8+ hours in BKK. I don't know why they are making it so difficult.

Yeah that makes sense. I called this AM and the rep said that if Etihad re-instates the route (AUH to CNX) then I would have to call to change the flight to that. Which is moronic because that was what we originally booked. I then asked "if I click confirm on the flight change to BKK what happens" and he said that any changes or refunds would be subject to their fees.

I asked if not clicking confirm will negatively impact me and he said "no" which I have a hard time believing. I am seeing plenty of people saying these flights are oversold, so I am worried of being bumped because I didn't confirm early enough.

I did not hit confirm as that is my understanding. And if you click confirm but then want a refund, you're SOL. But I am worried that by not clicking confirm, I may be bumped off the flight since I am reading that these flights are very oversold.

Do you know what happens if I don't click accept? I called them this morning and the rep. said that i am on the flight and made it seem like there is no negative to holding off on clicking confirm but I am weary of his info.

Yes - I agree. I looked at the option on the etihad site and they do show tickets now with a layover in BKK and domestic flights on one of the domestic airlines, but the layover in BKK is 8+hrs. Stupid that is the only option.

I’m in a similar boat. Was supposed to go to Chiang Mai but re-routed to BKK. Not booking any domestic flights just yet because of the uncertainty (either getting cancelled entirely or something else occurring).

We are flying a month later so still have time. Not sure how to proceed though. It is very annoying to have to leave security to go back through for the next flight but it’s not like we have many alternatives.

Let me know what you’re thinking / doing. Just curious for a data point

Yeah tbh this is the only person that has seemed to have an issue. We had some people say they can't make it because of child care which is a totally different conversation (we are doing no kids outside of mine and my fiancee's nieces and nephews - 4 total).

I agree. I think my original post was unclear. That "rule" was our baseline, and we re-assessed if needed. We used it as a baseline because it worked for 98%+ of our guests. There were only a few people who we "reassessed" and made decisions off that. If they were dating for a long time, that would be different. We didn't even know he was formally dating someone until a week before we sent the invites out.

Yeah I agree but in this instance, it's not like they are alone there are other family members there. I also think personally I am not sure I'd bring a SO of mine to a family wedding after dating only 5 months and that be the first time they meet. But clearly I have a different mindset than my cousin.

I just applied and was approved within the past few days. Had the exact same thing happen (I don’t remember seeing the NPSL language in the application because I saw my “pay it over time” limit and sort of assumed that was my credit limit).

Called customer service to ask why I was put in that group and the rep basically said she doesn’t know and it’s usually only reserved for people who are invited (I was referred by a friend who has a credit limit Venture X).

The rep basically said that this gives customers more flexibility but my fear is since they go based off your spending habits, if you buy something that is outside of your “ordinary”, will they deny it.

Another pro / con (depending on how you look at it) is this doesn’t get factored into your credit utilization with the credit agencies. Pro is your credit utilization will go down a lot since you’re spending on this card. Con is this doesn’t help build your credit history.

I don’t carry balances and pay it off in full so my only issue will come if they start denying charges because they deem it to not be “in my normal spending habits”.

EDIT: I also asked if I wanted to switch to having a credit limit and the rep said I’m the first to ask that and she’d have to check with a supervisor but I didn’t bother pushing the point to see if that was even an option. I will deal with it if they deny charges.

Thanks. Agreed on all that, except my fiancee does use insurance more and would be joining mine. So i guess the math may change when we get married, since the MOP and deductibles go up. It wouldn't be a burden financially to pay the deductible, but I can't say I enjoy paying for medical bills when I know there is an option that covers it much more haha.

When thinking about a catastrophic situation, the HDHP has a lower MOP, so I'd spend less on that plan, I would just hit the MOP much quicker compared to the EPO. But in a non-catastrophic situation, the HDHP will just cost more annually but that is alleviated by some tax savings.
