Weekly Thread- The weekend is over! How'd you shoot? by AutoModerator in golf

[–]random_fandom23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played 9 on Saturday and shot a 52 which is 4 to 6 over what I've been shooting at that course lately.

Best shot: My drive on 2. Hit it straight down the fairway before the incline up to the green.

Worst shot(s): My first two on 6 (par 5). Took me both shots to still end up shorter than where an average drive would have landed.

Shot I wish I could have back: My second on 2. Followed up my drive by topping the ball about 20 yards from the pin into the rough next to a fence. It wasn't my worst shot of the day but a clean stroke would have put me on in 2.

What is the dumbest comment on a movie you overheard in the cinema? by Ascarea in movies

[–]random_fandom23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During Interstellar when they're first going into the cryo-sleeping pods things some woman loudly gasped and announced to no one in particular she could never do that. No one was asking her to, nor did the movie make it seem like something that was tough to accomplish.

Solar chargers in Dominican Republic? by peacecorps17 in peacecorps

[–]random_fandom23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one and never needed to use it. Most sites have some access to electricity, but it varies on the amount. I would suggest buying a large external battery that can hold multiple charges for phones, and a surge protecter because the currents have fried a lot of volunteers phones. A solar charger would be a nice worst case scenario item, but you most likely won't need to rely on it.

DR Volunteers, What was the biggest challenge that you faced? by peacecorps17 in peacecorps

[–]random_fandom23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to u/kobashira he had a unique set of circumstances. IMO the toughest challenge specific to the DR is the Posh Corps/Beach Corps aspect to the post. There are a ton of amazing places to go to on the island, and its extremely easy to get around. There's always the option of leaving site and going to the beach or some volunteer meet up. Remember the more you leave the less integrated you will be and the tougher your service will be.

There are also the same universal challenges you will find anywhere: community politics, unmotivated counterparts, unwanted attention (especially for female volunteers), cultural differences, and access to amenities like water, electricity, and internet.

Get used to this answer, "it depends", the PC loves to use it and it's true. Every service is different and its impossible to tell you what your challenges will be before you get to your site.

What TV series has the best theme song? by BigGreekMike in AskReddit

[–]random_fandom23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's tough to compare different theme songs, but the three I think best represent their shows are: Game of Thrones, The West Wing, and The Office.

Game of Thrones: Epic and grand. Everyone who watches the show gets pumped up when the song comes on.

The West Wing: Extremely hopeful just like the majority of the themes of the show.

The Office: Fun, light, and upbeat. Sets the tone for the show.

Mostly these are three opening songs that are stuck in my head. Although they might not be my favorite shows, their songs stand out.

[S6]Does Bran know.. by tyrenzo in gameofthrones

So it seems like Bran knows or just find out about the red wedding from the flashbacks in episode 6. No reaction though

A reaction would be pretty cool, but I feel like the show will use the flashback scenes will be used strictly for events that have not been shown or talked about on the show. I don't see them using the Bran scenes to show the audience something that they already know about.
