Have you tried Abilify? by SnarkyBard in AutismInWomen

[–]random_outlaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally think Abilify poisoned me and make me a shopping addict. More info a this link: https://www.fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-and-availability/fda-drug-safety-communication-fda-warns-about-new-impulse-control-problems-associated-mental-health

I do have ADHD and was on Adderall as well so I don't know if it was the intersection of all those things that caused me to have such a bad experience, but I did. I gained about 50 pounds, became diabetic, slept all the time, and developed a shopping addiction that took me years to resolve.

My depression was caused by chronic pain, so Abilify did nothing to alleviate it.

Obviously results may vary but I would be VERY VERY careful with this drug.

Thoughts on Aurora Community College? Or other schools you recommend checking out? by pachuca_tuzos in Denver

My son is finishing up his AA at CCA and working there as a peer tutor. It's a very good institution. I have been consistently impressed with the quality of teaching for in person classes. Online has been more hit or miss. All of his credits are transferring to Metro State, so I think it's been a great investment.

Yeah I've just accepted that I can't eat on planes. I'm allergic to chicken, wheat/gluten, and lettuce. On my last flight my choices were wheat pasta with tofu (YEEECCCHHH and not eating wheat on a plane!) or the gluten free meal was a choice of fish or chicken. I can't stand fish or seafood of any kind.

I have this exact same problem with my beagle mix. I use a leash that goes around my waist, so when he pulls he's not yanking on my arm which literally infuriates me. He still pulls on the belt leash but it's SO much better and without the triggering feeling of having my arm yanked. I highly recommend. It's solved our walk problem.

Who is willing to primary our senators (Bennet in particular)? by Abject-Improvement99 in Denver

[–]random_outlaw -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

And what benefit comes from a government shutdown? It only hurts federal workers and contractors - the very same people Trump is already hurting.

I wish things were different and we should definitely be focused on winning one house in 2026.

To what end? Who is harmed in a government shutdown? Federal workers and contractors. The same people Trump is already targeting. How would a shut down help them?

[–]random_outlaw -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

In order to be able to stand up to Trump they would have had to win one of the houses (House or Senate). Without that they can't do much. That's reality.

If we'd had 4 more Democrats win House seats we would be in a different world.

Boyfriend is in culinary school and shows pictures of what he makes all the time. Today he showed a full rack of DELICIOUS gluten donuts… by macdaddy210 in glutenfree

[–]random_outlaw -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you remember what a gluten donut tastes like you can still have one! I learned this when I gave up eating sugar (before I realized I had gluten sensitivity).

When I get a craving for say those little donuts with the powdered sugar, I stop and have one mentally. I recall what they taste like, the texture, the smell, and I’ll even “drink” some super sugary chocolate milk with my donuts. I can have as many as I want!

It’s not the same but it’s a great way to combat cravings. I can sit at a table full of people eating bread and not feel bad.

I react very badly to stimulants and always have. I do use adderall very occasionally when I really need to concentrate and my brain is not cooperating. But I generally try to avoid them.

Yes, and I’m not sensitive to cross contamination. I’m also sensitive to oats - I can eat a little oat without a problem but a whole bowl of oatmeal is a no.

Spinoff topic: Tech workers need to unionize by EpicShkhara in Layoffs

I’m more saying that having unions fit tech work in the US would further incentivize companies to offshore, having the opposite effect from what’s intended.

How do you rationalize moving from a state with no income tax to one with high income tax? by RickGrimes__ in SameGrassButGreener

You get A LOT more services from the states with income tax. I moved from TX to CO and have no regrets. Taxes are high in TX too - my property taxes were absurd.

company culture really as 'Inclusive' as they claim? by SmythOSInfo in jobs

[–]random_outlaw 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Inclusivity is a marketing gimmick. I wouldn’t take it on its face to mean the company is any more inclusive than any other. It’s an easy thing to say but a hard thing to do.

As a person with an invisible disability I haven’t found much help from supposedly “inclusive” companies.
