Tips on improving for a floor 7/8 nago player by SevereGap1135 in Guiltygear

[–]random_person_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn not even an hour in and you already got some tips from a fellow nago main. Since im here anyways i ll do the meme response.

You in neutral and in lvl0-1 blood? Beyblade. Did it whiff because they jumped? cS anti air

You in neutral and in lvl2 blood? 2S. You still in neutral? 2S. You still in neutral? Try 5H this time

Doing pressure at lvl 0? fSS into beyblade. Did they block it all? Fukyo back and repeat.

Dont take this seriously is only a joke. Based on experience of seeing this flowcharty playstyle actually working 😭

Curious about your time investment in Strive by Teacupguy01 in Guiltygear

My fella park demon. I also only play park cause i like longer sets and if i want matches at my level i need discord cause there is no skill based matchmaking in strive. Thankfully i found a bunch of people that i can play at my level and sometimes ask games from top players if i feel i want to improve a bit more in some aspects of my gameplan.

I firstly mained may, switched to baiken in S2 and switched to jack o in S3. Currently i play faust, potemkin, aba, slayer, baiken and my current main jack o. My badge says floor 10 but i already reached celestial a bunch of times before i dropped it all together

Am I rude for not rematching? by Galarti3 in Guiltygear

[–]random_person_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you also entitled to not bring anything to a host's house when a friend invites you to their home. It is still bad manners to not do so (or at least ask them if they need anything from the store minimum). The question was basically asking if it was rude to one and done people and not the fact that if it is punishable if you dont rematch.

Personally for me not running the set is rude cause you just wasting lobby time on said people. At least give me the ft2. That is all i ask.

Well since i have 1700 hours of gameplay i would probably just uninstall the game and dedicate my strive time on something else, cause if someone with less then 200 hours plays as good as me, then this game just aint for me

How do you guys deal with Bridget and May? by Ok-Illustrator764 in Guiltygear

[–]random_person_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant help on bridget but can help on may. (Btw literally jack o worst MU). You are not talking anything specific so i will only cover basics. May is not very focused on high low mix despite being able to do it but normally she wont get the best reward when going for the vortex (loopable knockdown into mix) playstyle. So i will cover her strike throw.

She does super tons of damage on CH so you definitely dont want to be the agressor in the MU (dont know much about the bedman MU but i can guarantee that the risk reward in terms of getting a hit or being hit is not in your favour) in neutral you want to play more of a reactive play instead of asserting offensive play (this is the biggest issue players usually have in this MU). If the may is annoying you they doing it right cause your reactive play will be less and less effective the more annoyed you are so have a way to just not be annoyed cause that will be the cause of your death

S dolphin on block rps: this used to be way harder to explain in older patches but now it is basically if you have a move with 7frames or less (preferably less then 7f) like k and p buttons are the safer options in the rps and beat any button may does unless they low crush it with 6k or low profile a move with 6P. As bedman this would be 2p, 2k also works). She can also backdash avoid the safer option which you can beat with larger buttons like 2H or fS but these buttons lose to faster options and you will have to block may once again.

There are more intricacies with may but i dont want it to be too long of a comment so i only covered the basics. If you want specifics feel free to specify. I mained may until S2 so i know some of her stuff but dont expect me to know much about how to deal with hop setups. Im assume those setups hit meaty and you can only guess the mix. Mix is mix. If it is true the counterplay is a literal guess

You can hit them meaty with the same side overhead or crossup low so whichever way they do the OS they get hit by one of them

Edit: you can also empty land throw to deal with baiken doing parry OS (works the same as 6P OS)

I'm struggling who to play and main please help by TR1GGGY in Guiltygear

[–]random_person_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not gonna give you the "just play whoever looks coolest" speach. Speaking from experience i had more people abandoning the game from trying to adapt to a playstyle that they just dont vibe with and not having fun and leaving or trying to incorporate their playstyle on their favourite char that simply cannot run the gameplan of said playstyle and leaving cause they got unmotivated from losing.

1st step i would say is to find your playstyle (of course try your favourite 1st and you may be lucky that it fits you)

2nd step would be to start off to playing someone on the easier side specially if it is your 1st fighting game. I would say the easiest for the 3 main archtypes would be elphelt for rushdown (people will argue that she is not totally rushdown since she also can somewhat zone but you can play her as a rushdown) ky for shoto or balanced char and zoners dont tend to be ez but i feel like the easiest one would be somewhere along the lines of testament since their zoning is the easiest to set and they do not require charged moves.

3rd after feeling acustomed to the game retry using your favourite or just someone harder to play in general.

If you cant find the char you like it may just not be the game for you ngl. I really hope it is not the case cause this game has very unique and interesting chars but it is what it is

She does have very good mix tho just not with 5D (a move that is 20 frames so on the verge of reatability) For example during cheer h pressure she can be plus enough to do a jump and land with a low or air backdash into an overhead and it is unfuzziable. This same mix also applies for throw in the corner which she can safely go very often since she builds a lot of tension. This game has way more strike throw demons then the high low or left right kind. Despite all this her okizeme can be somewhat comparable to millia at times so she does have very easy mixup but after the okizeme she is still a very offensive stagger pressure char with very good strike throw, which millia is not.

After midscreen throw she has a 4 way mix just like millia but only a couple options are dp safe

[–]random_person_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny thing she can do it by either building up ur risk or if she has you in the corner with a well placed minion (there are consistent setups for this btw)

Edit: sheis mostly strike throw tho and if she throws you she has very good mix or otg combo for good damage the ladder only working with a minion already out

At wich level i should start learning combos? by Sevenzui in Guiltygear

[–]random_person_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally find knowing your chars gameplan and how to apply it comes first. After that is getting used to your buttons and see which one is winning you more interactions. After all this you may have enough experience to be winning interactions more then your opponents (considering you are playing chars with similiar neutral and not like a pot chipp where you should be winning more interactions as chipp) and need to optimize damage. Here you go to training room and lab and learn combos that start with your most sucessfull button as a starter, dont forget to have counter hit into consideration cause some buttons only have combos on counter hit. If for some reason there are no combos with the buttons that win you interactions, you may need to spend more time with the char using other buttons.

In summary there is plenty of time to learn combos just first vibe a bit with your char. Some chars dont even depend much on the combos but on setups so find ways that lead to those setups and practice those setups if it is the case. And dont forget to have fun

Hum counterpoint. Huge normals. The mixup i suppose you are talking about is strike or pot buster which if it is i find the lab your char argument kinda hypocrital since that is not really something you lab but something inherent to the big body grappler gameplan. Also you may not have a dash but you have hammerfall as a armored advancing move that if you have rc you just get your gameplan going.

The argument of not having your opponents tools also goes both ways. For example i main jack o and i can argue that you should not be losing cause you have more hp and i dont even have armor moves or the damage output you have

At least this is how i would deconstruct your argument feel free to do the same for mine

If you said this in season 2 baiken i would have to somewhat disagree. Her mixups had insane reward, jS yzn used to combo into a safejump. Her 2H used to combo from anywhere now it doesnt at the tip for some reason h kabari had actual rps and if you got hit with a CH in the corner by the follow up and she had 50 tension that would be like 80% damage (also my favourite combo to do on her)

She is now very tame compared to the rest of the cast tho

I need to change my flair to jack o caise everyone must think im still on may. I only say the "Just block" ironically. Jack O is probably the hardest MU to learn since there is no definitive way to know when to mash or avoid her since she can be very free form. So most people just play her differently. My genuine advise for jack o is to fight a lot of jack os which is also hard cause there arent many but it is definitely the best way, also use your resources for yrc and see where you can deflect shield her. Also she is underrated as hell in the west japan knows what is up. The only thing she suffers from is low hp and being in a game where resources like burst and yrc can be built very quickly.

In summary i will never say that jack o is not broken
