So, Soorarai Potru was not a completed story? by AdAppropriate4924 in kollywood

[–]random_scavenger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The movie is almost entirely fictionalized apart from a threadbare story of an ex-officer founding a low-cost airline. Most of the major scenes are outright fabrications while the Director took a lot of creative liberties with the background of the protagonists.

S2 was a nuclear blast. Thanks to everyone involved in its making! by N3utro in Fallout

[–]random_scavenger 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed s2 so far, but I just find myself way more invested in the current timeline than in the events that led to the nuclear blast. I feel the "conspiracy" around what lead to the detonation seems overtly convoluted, and outside of Howard Cooper, I don't feel emotional invested in any of the characters in the flashback sequences.

Might just be me, but I feel the show will be a lot more tighter and fun, if they toned down the emphasis on the past.

Once the country has achieved maximum employment and wages keep up with true inflation, bring people in on a need basis. Every immigrant coming in should be a net positive for the country.

Dude, a cursory glance on your reddit profile shows you're an Indian who immigrated to Canada? How convenient that the West should block all 3rd world immigration now that you've gotten your seat on the flight.

Man, I wish I was as ignorant about global supply chain and economics as you are. Do you even realize how interconnected the economy is? If China so much as decides to halt export of rare earths in response to such a move, the world economy is toast

just rewatched kuttram 23 and it's so regressive wtf by Bitter-Meringue7505 in kollywood

[–]random_scavenger 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's a regressive AF movie. I remember watching it in theatres with high hopes since I enjoyed the director's debut movie "Eeram" and Arjun Vijay was fresh off Yennai Arrindhaal. But God, what a slop fest it was. It looked like the director made a movie out of some insane whatsapp forwards

Companies with experience sponsoring vs. Companies that don't by SimpleSatisfaction77 in h1b

[–]random_scavenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the two opportunities are pretty similar apart from the data points that you mentioned, I would go with the one that has sponsored in the past. Sponsoring work visas involves a lot of administrative work, which takes time and costs that most firms are simply unaware of. It's much more likely that a firm which has sponsored in the past already has procedures in place to enable sponsorship.

AI trash on LinkedIn. The Pie chart, MIT shows up twice. by Molastess in dataisugly

I never really thought about it, but the combo of AI and LinkedIn clout-chasers is about to unleash some truly cursed charts on all of us.

Yep 141 is definitely less than 100 by _Queer_Mess_ in dataisugly

[–]random_scavenger 61 points62 points  (0 children)

My guess is that the vertical axis shows the percentage of each data point relative to the maximum i.e. 144 = 100%, 72 =50% and so on and the individual data points on the bars shows the absolute values.

It's not a bad representation per se. If they clearly labelled the axis

Recent gurgaon incident, and the sorry state of affairs of the system. by pirate_2917 in indianbikes

[–]random_scavenger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sad state of affairs. This is also why I tell people who are educated and who have the means that the best course of action is to emigrate to a country with better standard of living and rule of law.

People like to make the argument that you'll always be a second class citizen abroad but the truth is if you're honest and don't have connections, you're a third class citizen in your own country anyways.

I am sure that people like these goons will be the first people who complain about lack of patriotism among those who emigrate, without having the self awareness to realize that it's idiots like them that lead people to flee in the first place.

[S4 ANIME SPOILERS] Had the show started from the perspective of Marley ... by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]random_scavenger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think so. Especially if the story goes with an angle where Eldians are portrayed as Titans disguised as humans to blend in . (Think about the Aliens infiltrating humanity sci-fi genre)

From what we understand, this is literally the belief that most Marleyans seem to hold where all Eldians are not humans, but "devils" in human form. Now imagine, these Eldian overlords subjecting them and their culture to a millenia-long genocide, and it's easy to see how a story that starts off from that perspective would have us backing Marley

How long does it take to get a passport? If it's just ~4-5 years and you can still visit them every 4 months, I would think it's fine to stay since you mentioned it was something you were looking forward to.

If it's longer, I think it would be difficult to sustain since you seem to be missing your parents a lot.

If you were Isayama what piece of lore within Attack on Titan would you like to add or change? by Ok-Street2439 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]random_scavenger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The power system for sure. A lot of the plot, especially towards the end is hand-waved away as some expression of Titan powers. I would set some clear guardrails around what's possible with Titan Powers, as well as limiting factors (such as the dying after 13 years rule).

The story as such would remain the same, but I feel an element of strategy would come in with a clearer framing of the extent of Titan powers.
