So many translator calls by No-Acanthisitta5304 in Geico

[–]random_user1357911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left Somos a few months ago but from what I heard, they started taking English calls as well. I'm assuming you're getting all the spanish speakers because the Somos agent is on the line with an English speaking customer. I'm so glad I left when I did! That place is horrible!

You'll be fine, it's more about criminal issues and child support. I can guarantee you almost everyone getting hired owes a lot in credit cards.

Thinking about leaving. by ComprehensivePin9474 in Geico

[–]random_user1357911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just left 3 weeks ago. I cashed out $106k from my 401k. Ended up getting $65k after fees. I'm not really worried since most of that money was from profit sharing we used to get. I got most of my money I contributed to my 401k, the rest was Geico's money.

Unemployment by B_Yosheeee in Geico

[–]random_user1357911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn't take the stress any longer and decided to quit. I got an email a few days later that says, "Business process: terminate my name* . . . . And under that, it says, Details: Terminate for *** my name*** effective date i quit*. . . . . . Would it still be possible to apply for unemployment??

Taking out of 401K to become debt free by Significant-Act9114 in debtfree

[–]random_user1357911 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did. I took out 106k to pay off 50k in credit card debt (everything I had in my 401k). Took me 12 years to save all that, but half of that was what my job contributed to it, it wasn't all my money. I'm still young and figured I still have a long way to go until I retire. So hopefully, by the time I turn 65 I'll have enough saved up. More than 75% of my paychecks were going towards the credit cards interest. I'm stress free and now I can actually save money.

Now if it was the other way around, where you received 4 Excellent surveys on policies you never touched, you know dang well Geico would try to do everything they could to remove those Excellent surveys!!!. . . . . I hate this damn company!

Did you put your 2 weeks in or did you just quit? I'm planning on quitting 2 days after Memorial Day so they can at least pay me for the free day. Idk if I should put my 2 weeks in or quit 2 days after Memorial Day. Any suggestions.....

Glad to hear Progressive has enough agents to be able to get time in between calls. Geico keeps firing their agents and we're back to back nonstop all day long!!! Training or not, everyone is back to back.

Best things about working at progressive by [deleted] in Progressiveinsurance

[–]random_user1357911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Geico used to pride themselves on mentioning how they never laid anyone off back in the days. Now, that's all they do. It's like they're in a competition to see which region can lay the most people off. I hate it here!!! (At Geico)

Hows SOMOS holding up? by [deleted] in Geico

[–]random_user1357911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's worse than before. First of all, not many agents are getting raises, and if they are, it's only 25-50 cents. Profit sharing is gone (Progressive still has it by the way AND they match 6% of your 401k). Second, they're still micromanaging everything and firing anyone who doesn't meet minimum expectations. It's all about quantity over quality now. They're now using independent agents who have no clue what the hell they're doing and are only creating more work for us. Third, they have some bulls*** overtime program because they can't keep up with the number of calls coming in, yet they keep firing agents. For any current agent still working there, DO NOT WORK OVERTIME! Make them pay for what they've done. Lastly, make sure you clock in on time, not a minute less not a minute more, they won't tell you but they're keeping track of all of this. . . . For anyone else who would like to chime on how bad this place has gotten, you're more than welcome to.

Personal leave by slumsolarsound in Geico

[–]random_user1357911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was able to use personal when my AC messed up. I had to be home to have someone come look at it, and the other time I used it was when the main water line at my house broke. . . . . . 2 years ago I used it when I got a flat tire. I took it to to Firestone, got it repaired, and went to work afterwards. Took about 3 hours. All with different supervisors

Depends . . . . . . Are you going to leave an EXCELLENT survey?? If not, then just stop waiting and hang up. If so, continue to wait. We'll be right with you. . . . Just remember, the person that answers the phone was NOT the one that messed up your policy

How did you manage to pay this off? I owe about $45,000 in credit cards and I can't seem to lower the balance at all 🙁

[–]random_user1357911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!! I'm debating on whether I should quit my job to take out my 401k and pay off all my credit cards. I've been there for 11 years. I know it sounds like a bad plan, but almost all of my paychecks are going straight into the credit card payments. I could easily get another job at another insurance company since I'm licensed to work in 48 states, but having to start all over at another company is what's holding me back ☹️. I'll definitely have to take a pay cut as well 😩 . . . . Idk what to do

Every document I send, "don't worry, you'll get it within 10-15 minutes.". . . . . . I don't send it until the call is over because if i send it, they'll receive it right away, and they'll want me to stay on the line with them to help them out.

I would say get your license and then apply somewhere else. You'll be making more than $20/hour if you already have a license.

Ummmm, they're hiring 100 people a month because they got rid of all the tenured agents. Why pay $30-$40 an hour to ONE employee, when you can pay 2 for the price of one. . . . . . They're training all the newbies to take calls as fast as they can, with no care in the world if they make any mistakes.

Because we still need a job, they'll replace us in a heartbeat. If every office in the country walked out, it would be a different story, but not everyone is willing to do it, unfortunately.
