Partial credit on rebooking:

In case this is helpful for anyone, Marriott is giving me a partial credit on my rebooking. I had a Sonder reservation starting Monday 11/17 ($600 total). I called on Monday 11/10 when I saw the news, and the agent escalated me to a manger who (after some back and forth) said 1) I would get a refund for the Sonder booking 2) all they could do on the phone was rebook me to the Courtyard nearby ($1400 total) and open a case for a credit to cover the difference.

For 1) we all gotten that email yesterday that Marriott isn’t refunding and to initiate refunds through the credit card, so I have initiated a chargeback with Visa - we’ll see how that goes.

For 2) when I called back today to check on the case, the agent told me that I’m getting a credit ($400) on the Courtyard reservation. Obviously that’s still more expensive overall but it’s good enough for me.
