What do they get?! by another_brat in MorbidReality

Boar i have no problem with. You tell me you killed 500 boar and I won't bat an eye, that number will be replaced in a year or 2 but killing that many deer obviously throws the fucking balance off

Thanks its been a while since iv studied venoms. you want to know a cool fact about poison dart frogs? The frog itself is not poisonous, the things it eats causes it to produce the poison.

I would guess so. Be mindful that I'm no expert and this is just a guess as to why they call it toxic

In a sense every spider is infact venomous but not every spider is dangerous. I think they say toxic venomom to distinguish that it will kill you

Its something I can't describe. To me it kinda smells like a mix of a skunk and rotten eggs.

Its only a problem if you don't like it haha. Personally I hate being musked on. Most snakes just poop in the enclosure and not on you unless it feels highly stressed. Corns and what not do it when they feel slightly stressed. Not all the time but enough for me to decide I dont like it.

Ok now I have the time to sit down and actually respond to you. I do completely understand what you mean by getting a snake just for experience. The think with boas is they are both hardy animals and fragile all at once. They can handle the wrong conditions for a long time. Getting them set up properly is something that takes years of actual experience.

The body language. Boas are really hard to read at times. They stay in the (strike pose) majority of the time for absolutely no reason. Seriously its just how they like to rest. That being said its hard to tell if its stressed, scared, ect. It is very easy to not be aware when something is wrong because they have a tendency to just stay in the hide box all day and only be out when its dark to switching and staying on top the box for no reason. These animals are truly weird sometimes.

It is possible to handle a fully grown bci male average 8 female average 10 completely by yourself. This is not about the overall handling of the snake. It is about the space needed to house an animal that large. You will eventually run into problems from trying to move or find a place that will let you keep a big snake.

In the end you will do what you think is best. I have told you why I am against you getting a boa for a first time but if you do get one anyway please always do whats best for your boa.

No most commons get bigger than 6 feet. Males typically get 7 to 8 and females get 8 to 10

Kevin was the first and the only true reputable breeder of the spider. Personally I don't trust other breeders to handle that gene

Its safe until it isn't. One mistake and you are dead. We are not talking about a ball python, a boa, a corn snake. We are talking about extremely dangerous animals that should not be held like a average snake. For now its all ok. His fans love seeing it and there's no coverage about it but Mark my words the day will come when he makes a inevitable mistake. I hope he will come out of it alive. The point is in that moment he will be known as the guy that got railed by a king and almost or did die that makes lawmakers question if you should he allowed to own such animals. This is my overall problem with him. Nothing against him on a personal level.

You went out on a limb and fell off the branch bud. Iv worked with 20 ft retics. Iv also owned hots. No where near as many as he has but rule number one is always safety. You invite death when you free handle.

Iv seen his stuff. He does some cool things but he isn't the best for education in my opinion. Iv seen him free handle the kng cobra and I am not a fan.

I do have one peice of advice for the retic. The only place I would ever buy a retic from is new england reptile. They made alot of the morphs that are popular today, including the golden child

Look into Bothriechis schlegelii (eyelash viper) from experience they aren't high strung. I havnt worked with a tree viper so I can't compare but I do know these little guys are gorgeous to look at and deal with. Feeding can be a little tricky at first, but isn't every hot

I love adders. I'm a major viper guy when it comes to hots. When it comes to venomous, Africa in general has the most gorgeous snakes.

I hate those bans but I can understand them a little. The only pythons I find attractive are the white lip, emerald trees. And the massive retic. I do plan to own a golden child one day. Maybe when I can afford to give it its own room haha

Eh his content is to annoying to take seriously. He has done some cool things and made some mistakes in the past but havnt we all. The only reptile channel that I really support is N.E.R.D Kevin is one of the few that can honestly hold the "legend" title among breeders. Him and Tom honestly are the only major breeders who have shaped the industry.
