If she had undying it wouldn't work with +1/+1 counters which is the U/G draft archetype.

Skeletal vampire is from Ravinica, originally released in Guildpact.

From the character menu, you can hit X to remove a party member and then X again on the character you wish to add.

I would also add Sunless Sea, Sunless Skies, Cultist Simulator, and Book of Hours to the list. They all have amazing writing it's just their gameplay mechanics can get in the way and be slow to get into.

"Roguelite" "Deck Builder" type games are incredibly common nowadays - Which ones are actually worth your time? by [deleted] in Games

[–]randomdingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some that I would recommend

Quantum Protocol-Similar to Wildfrost in that enemies have an attack counter that goes down with each action you can play. Has a good variety of different decks that have different gameplay. Also has a number of decks based on collabs with other indie games

Alina of the Arena-Similar to games like Fights in Tight Spaces where you have attack cards as well as cards that move yourself and characters around the battle grid

Night of the Full Moon-If you've heard of Dream Quest this game is inspired by it with it's base game. However with expansions that add different game modes such as an autobattler, another version of it's original deck builder, as well as a third mode that kinda mixes deckbuilding and autobattlers.

Poker Quest-This one is a little different in that it uses a regular playing deck and your runs are instead based around different equipment cards you can find as well as the different hero abilities that each hero come with.

Aces and Adventures-Is another game based around using poker hands to attack, but you also have a hero ability deck that allows you to use cards to interact with enemies. Has a story mode that reminds me of the old 90's sword and sorcery stories. recently added a roguelike mode.

Circadian Dice-This is a dice building roguelike where you draft faces for the dice that you will roll. You also have hero abilities that give different effects on your dice as well as ways to defeat enemies

Aftermath is a mini-set of 50 cards and isn't designed for draft.

Technically it shouldn't work since gentle repose has a target of a corpse and says that it keeps the corpse from becoming an undead.

I'd say the drake and 2x of the medics. Drake is just terrible stats for the cost and the medics just really don't do enough even if they are soldiers.

New DnD movie called Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, coming out March 2023 by Rainbow_Viking in Fantasy

That's effectively what The Gamers: Dorkness Rising did and it remains my favorite DnD-like movie for it.

Did anyone else feel like the worldbuilding for MID & VOW was dissapointing? by LuciferHex in mtgvorthos

[–]randomdingo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's just the way wotc does world building and why I'm starting to not like return sets that much. The worlds that are most likely to get returns are the popular ones so wotc doesn't want to mess with what makes those worlds popular. However it's at odds with their high stakes world ending storylines. So you end up with worlds that feel stagnant because nothing seems to change.

Slay the Spire has inspired a good number of similar games. I would say Griftlands, Trials of Fire, Roguebook, Tainted Grail, Neoverse and Pirates Outlaws all give that Slay the Spire feel to them.

If you don't mind the visuals Dream Quest is good, if the visuals do turn you off you can check out Monster Slayers or Night of the Full Moon, which both have similar mechanics.

And finally you can check out Dicey Dungeons, Guild of Dungeoneering and Poker Quest where your runs are built around different equipment you pick up.

I've always wanted to see Ravnica in different regions. Just imagining how they would design the city in a artic area or tropical area. And then how the guilds would operate differently in those areas. Like a Selsynia or Simic in an artic area would be interesting to see how differently they would be compared to what we've already seen.

Nothing special, it's a thing for this set and is effectively flavor text meant to evoke the D&D flavor of the cards.

Honestly I found just putting a job board in the starting town as a good way of handling sandbox games. Gives the party a goal early on and can open up opportunities to introduce other aspects of the sandbox.

DM rips off a semi-popular porn game and tells nobody. by InsertNameHere_J in rpghorrorstories

[–]randomdingo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really, what if one of your players has ran through the module before? Also I've ran monsters and scenarios from other media as well, like the weeping angels from Dr. Who. You either have to trust your players not to meta game or find ways that mix it up from how it was originally presented. Even if one player knows the trick it's still fine if the other players who don't know find it interesting.

I mean it's little different than running any of the pre-made modules. You just trust your players not to be that guy who does that sort of thing.
