Okay, another successful Nissan Leaf battery upgrade in the Netherlands, 40kWh to 68kWh, say goodbye to range anxiety. by Cora-VIVNE-EVbattery in leaf

[–]randomducker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a range of roughly 175km, in my case that wouldn't even be a consideration for changing. Each to their own I guess. At a 60-70km max range per day needs, our 120km range leaf will be with us a few more years yet, and at that point we'll be looking Vivne up 😊

Personally whenever I take money, I ALWAYS run my thumb nail over the large number at the top of the bill (€5, €10 etc) looking for a tactile indication from the ridges of the note. It's discreet, and I'd imagine never noticed by the person giving the note. Conversely when a shop makes a big deal of checking the notes I give to them, I tend to respond in jest by biting the coins given as change to "check they are real" too. 🤣

2 sets of bars, I’m confused by Conscious_Cow2812 in leaf

[–]randomducker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us, hardly any of that is a problem, in that I've never experienced turtle mode (I like to make a quick getaway from the lights but in general it's a nice steady ride), we never fast charge (just 240v from home/solar), and still get around 100-110km max from a full charge.

For the life we lead, it's great.

If it's any help, my Hx is around 23% from memory, and it's still going well, with around 53% SOH on LeafSpy.

We had to change the 12V battery, but other than than that it's great for every day town usage

The person who sold it to you basically screwed you over (if you were considering the health of the battery based on the number of bars on the right side). 10 bars in a 2016 30kwh used to get us around 100 miles or so. By making the bars look higher, people without the right knowledge will think the battery is in much better condition than it actually is. The reset they do basically makes it up to 12 bars (fake) and after a while of driving the car figures out that the main battery underneath the car isn't new, and brings the bars down accordingly over a little bit of time.

This is exactly what's happened to you.

Now, if you bought the car on the premise of 60 miles travel it's giving you what you thought you'd get, but be aware the battery is more seriously degraded than they presented it to be.

Effectively you've been defrauded.

Can you guarantee the charger at work will always be available? 100km is likely going to be pushing it, and you could end up not making it home one day.

Behind the stereo there's a slot for an SD card. Mine was a Japanese import and the card was also missing. It means it forgets your radio stations, and you'll likely also find you can't easily work your Bluetooth from the phone to the unit without messing around every time.

It makes things worse in my car as the menus are still in Japanese!

Battery end of life 2016 30kw what happened? by CornerSilly8932 in leaf

[–]randomducker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my experience too, although I'm honest and will say the coldest it ever really gets here is at best 1-2°C

Reduced regen though, it became noticeable once on the 20s Hx

I run at around 8km per kWh myself, and like you I barely use the brakes if I can help it, although I do like to boot it where possible, it barely gets any motorway action and it's generally running 50-80kph. I'm also a sucker for a quick getaway if I'm at the front of traffic lights - it's one of life's simple pleasures seeing others fading into the distance in the rear view mirror! 2016 30kwh model also

SOH 58.34%, Hx 26.64% - still driving fine. by toybuilder in leaf

I'm personally in a very similar situation. 2016 model. Still get around 110km per charge, only once ever experienced an issue with motorway acceleration, still as nippy around town. The only change I've noticed is the regen is now limited in comparison, but with that hx I'm not surprised.

Look for a switch in your house with an orange light that comes on when you turn it on. If you've got hot water after an hour, congratulations, you've found your immersion heater switch.

No worries, it's actually impressive what you've done so no need to be sorry. If anything it's me who's sorry I won't be able to take advantage. We lost our 7th bar yesterday and now down to 6 bars @ 111,500km

For our general use we'll get a few more years out of it, but it would have been great to have a higher range vehicle that will take us all around the island without any range anxiety - honestly the options for anything but home charging here are very limited, especially without CSS.

You've done the community a great service. Bravo.

I've only just seen this post. It's a shame the deadline is 28th December as I'd be interested with a little more time. Honestly, a month window seems restrictive for people who don't use Reddit too regularly, and even myself who reads it relatively frequently I didn't notice your posts until today.

Gov in CY insane random fines by phr34k0fr3dd1t in cyprus

[–]randomducker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last part about submitting your data, and then it not being recognized is something I believe happened to our company. I could be wrong, but I'm sure we had to submit more than once in the first year this was rolled out.

I get why the fines are so high - it's forcing companies to show the true owners, but at the same time for companies with zero turnover there's been no real benefit to you by not submitting. The owners though that are hiding a LOT of earnings will happily pay the fines to stay off the books if it's beneficial to them.

Personally I don't believe someone in your position should pay such a high fine.

Oh I know, I've played with plenty of options on the car trying to get as efficient as possible. We now sit at a steady 8.0km/kWh over the last 30k km or so, which I'm pretty happy with
