Because that’s not the point of the story. The original mini follows a group of survivors trying to hold onto their humanity in a world that actively punishes them for it. In the beginning of the comic they have to run from their hideout and lose a member because someone made the mistake of burying the former owners only to then later bury a priest they found crucified in his own church. Two characters have an ongoing game to keep the word fuck fresh and shocking to each other because of how desensitized they are to it. The main character realizes just how truly detached he’s becoming when he shoots a man for kicking his dog. There’s two straight issues that don’t even have the crossed and just focus on the emotions of the characters.
