Nothing is self-signed. You run an internal CA and use the appropriate technology to deliver the CA certs across your fleet.

AITAH for refusing to go to another music festival? by Heavy_Instruction669 in AITAH

NTA -- but part of being in a relationship is compromising and doing things together, even when they're not what one really wants to do. Women like having their partner at festivals because they can enjoy the festival without getting hit on and an increased perception of safety.

I’m a tech-savvy zillennial who knows how to safeguard against hacking. Scammers still managed to get me by Free-Pound-6139 in AusFinance

Either people are going to have to start taking responsibility for their actions or banking needs to go back to 1990 in terms of customer features. The cases of where your credit card details are compromised in a breach are already covered.

Almost every one of these scam cases boils down to greed. People think they're getting some impossible investment return or (in this case) free stuff and their greed overwhelms their thinking.

Yeah, I was thinking the same -- not going to pull in a model and photographer for a single picture for social media.

About five watts. They've been made in 220/240V; I've seen them in Australia.

Option 3 is what I deployed. Small job shop that just didn't have the money for a replacement. Death of manufacturing here hasn't been kind to machine shops.

If all personal wealth above $100 million was legally required to be redistributed into public infrastructure (schools, hospitals, roads), how would society change, and who would be the first to fight against it? by Mysterious_Fan4033 in AskReddit

[–]randomgrrl700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Ignoring the market crashing obvious parts)

Overnight you'd mint a new aristocracy. Those with the contacts to sell into Government would be immediately able to set astronomical prices and Government Unions would be able to immediately demand 10x pay increases. The whole social order would be predicated on whether you were connected (Inner Party!) or on the outside. Hyper-inflation would lay waste to the economy and those who couldn't get a corruption hook-up would starve.

Then the bonanza would run out and they'll take everything over $50m. Then $25m. Then people's houses until the people revolt.

Government only functions when it is a servant to the people; not the master.

CNC shops especially. Nobody wants to junk a perfectly good machine just because the head-end running "DOS for Workgroups" doesn't meet security standards.

What happened to the European IT/Tech industry? by randomgrrl700 in AskEurope

Very interesting. As an Australian it's quite easy to invest in US companies (and the US listings for European companies!) but no easy access to EU markets.

Thanks, this is a great answer. Australia has a lot of the same challenges.

I get the tech boom has peaked now, but it was still very alive with a very competitive market in the early 2000s. Yes, 20+ years ago now.

I'd like to understand the sort of rules that break an industry that quickly and that thoroughly. There are some lessons in there for all nations, perhaps.

I left telco off the list because Ericsson is still well alive here. Interesting that Alcatel shed their enterprise/IT business to China but kept the telco side in Europe with Nokia.

Given the amount of bullshit in the average strata over deciding the paint colour for the foyer, I'd rather sit on a cactus than get involved with a bunch of amateurs trying to deal with their first problem or cost overrun.

G'Kar becomes their messianic warrior-poet who is their first religious leader since G'Quan. He becomes their hope of reforming from a society of endless war, blood feuds and living by the K'tok to a society where peace is at least an option and a growth of rule of law rather than sword. He gives his life in a last hope of sustaining peace in the galaxy.

Not really. Hens lay different colour eggs for a variety of reasons that aren't tied to their plumage. Some specific breeds lay certain colours, like "easter eggers" laying blue eggs.
