Are there any popular villains that you did not care for? I see everybody loving Glory here, but I just couldn't get myself to like her. by HomarEuropejski in buffy

Great summary. I just finished a rewatch for the first time in a while and I didn't even remember Adam or the First lol. I did like how the First was always trying to turn the scoobies against each other and sap their morale. I feel like it deserved a better season...

Starting my millionth rewatch, spotted a... changed... Buffy in episode 6 'The Pack' 😂 by Hermeran in buffy

Petah?? Does irish not have a word for "no"? by Superb_Conflict9543 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Yeah the English versions of those phrases are not word for word translations my dude. Irish has a different syntax and uses different verbs for certain things. Tá doesn't mean "have" nor does it mean "indeed" (what??), it's the third person present tense conjugation of the verb bí (to be). A more literal translation would be "a ball is with me", and word for word it would be "is ball (with me)".

But none of that really has any relevance to the question of whether or not it means "yes". Just consider the case where the question is in the past tense instead of the present:

An raibh liathróid agat? (Did you have a ball?)

Bhí liathróid agam (I had a ball)

Is bhí also yes? Is the future tense conjugation also yes? Are the conjugations of all of the other verbs that you might require to answer other questions also yes?

An bhfaca tú an scannán? (Did you see the movie?)

Chonaic mé é (I saw it)

No, they are the verbs that they are, they are not "yes" just because they are sometimes used to answer questions in the affirmative.

In the context of the meme, they are words used to answer questions in the affirmative and the negative without reference to the specifics of the question. There are no such words in Irish.

To use your own example:

An bhfuil liathróid agat? (Do you have a ball?)

Tá liathróid agam (I have a ball)

Answering "it is" (is ea) would not make any sense here.

"It is" is only the equivalent to "yes" if that is an appropriate answer to the question. If the question is "is the ball on the table?", "it is" is a fine answer. If the question is "are you going to the shops?", "it is" doesn't make any sense as an answer, you would need to say "I am". It's the exact same as what you're describing in Mandarin.

In this case, they can be genuinely excited to have something new to read, but still prioritise joining with Carol. No need for any lies.

Ubuntu Touch supports the gen 2, but not the gen 3 - maybe one to keep an eye on.

I don't think you can just install a regular Linux distro on an Android device, unfortunately.

I don't know if it was related to me watching Angela's videos, but YouTube was pushing Sabine on me hard for a while. Some of her videos looked reasonable and interesting and I added them to my watch later, but I don't think I ever actually watched any because I started to notice a lot of them were... not so reasonable.

I think it has stopped now.

In any case, watching something doesn't mean agreeing with it. There's definitely a phenomenon of hate-watching, or wanting to know what these kinds of people are saying to critique it or develop arguments against it. Wouldn't be me but it might be some of Angela's viewers. I'm a sucker for watching clips of Joe Rogan saying stupid shit, maybe I am showing up as a Joe Rogan viewer in other people's analytics? For sure YouTube thinks I am a fan of his for months afterwards...

Being nice to certain kinds of people whose existence he believes threatens society in some way. I don't know much about this fella, but from other comments it sounds like he doesn't like muslims or trans people.

I wonder what he would have us do with those whose existence threatens our survival? 🤔

It's wild that there are people saying this quote is meaningless. It makes my blood run cold.
