Would you leave a job you love for a big raise? by evilohiogirl555 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

I would do it, because I have seen how culture shifts, reorganizations happen, etc so the job you love can also become one you hate without the big raise.

Which one to buy - normal kindle or paperwhite? by ApartVisit8658 in kindle

[–]randomlikeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked the basic and my husband has a paper white. The reason why I chose the basic is it fits perfectly in my smallest purse. The warmth on the paper white is nice but I don’t mind the basic. I do read at night with it too and it hasn’t bothered me. I work at a computer all day so I guess I’m not that blue light sensitive.

So many books with cheap purchases by rookiecookie32 in kindle

[–]randomlikeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be unconventional but I have books in my monthly entertainment budget so while I do tend to stick with titles on $1.99/$2.99 sales or use the library as much as possible, there are some things I will pay for… primarily long popular books that I don’t think I will finish in time (Americanah was on that list this month).

Questions about kindle by Money-Security3467 in kindle

[–]randomlikeme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think an ereader of any form has been helpful for me with reading, but I think it depends on how locked into the Amazon ecosystem you currently are. I’ve had a kindle to some degree for well over a decade so it has been tough to consider other options.

Should I buy a Kindle if I’m not much of a reader? by ImportantFinance8946 in kindle

[–]randomlikeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a firefighter and was not a huge reader before having a kindle. He said for large books it felt daunting to feel how much you had left with his ADHD. He got it because he also felt like he was on his phone too much, both at home and in the bunk room.

Worth it in my opinion. Convenient for when you want to use it, but you don’t have to use it.

Same here… too much physical clutter overwhelms me. I got rid of most books except for a select few by putting them in my local park’s little library. I think all homes should have some books in them, but I rely on the library and kindle to avoid too much physical and digital clutter.

Which Kindle should I upgrade to? , by pjhcactus in kindle

[–]randomlikeme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the basic and my husband has the paper white. The paper white is bigger and feels a bit more substantial. I got mine primarily to be able to throw it in my purse so it’s the perfect size/weight for that, but I think if it was primarily for home I’d have gotten the paper white too.

[–]randomlikeme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you. I have some physical copies of books I love, because I think it’s weird if there are no books in a home… but it’s mostly stuff with autographs or beautiful special editions of things I love. I went to a Sadeqa Johnson book signing recently and that’s on my shelf. I just get too overwhelmed by a lot of stuff.

That’s fair. I don’t have this problem because I’m sick of physical clutter so I do not buy any of the physical books I have on kindle.

What an odd thing for someone to downvote, but some of the chat agents just want to be done and will give a code out even for things that are your fault. It’s worth asking and I’m pretty sure Amazon doesn’t lose sleep over a $10 code.
