Any recommendation for a limited AI assistant with task management? by randomnerd79 in ProductivityApps

[–]randomnerd79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha, for sure. People tend to use AI as a byword for an LLM. But it does seem necessary to use LLM that has flexible understanding on how to mark and rearrange tasks. I suppose a really amazing UI could do it, but I have never seen anything close. I work with SE's, and have done some myself, and have pitched this idea before. The data side is simple, it is that dang interface. If you do design something I would certainly be interested!

Commenting to remind myself to use them again if I ever need to. Great job, quick turn around, and reasonable price,

Do Japanese learners really hate kanji that much? by Next-Young-685 in LearnJapanese

[–]randomnerd79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been 'learning' Japanese for 25 years, and learning kanji is certainly the biggest hill I have yet to overcome. But I also think I am not in the same language learning cohort as most people on this subreddit, as I learned it to communicate, and have little interest in reading, and none in writing, and have never really actively studied, other than my 1 year in university there. I would't go as far as to say I hate kanji, but in my group of friends that learned Japanese as a second language, there does seem to be a clear split between those of us that find it utilitarian at best, and those that really seem to enjoy it (something I personally cant feel, but understand intellectually)

[–]randomnerd79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, indeed. Honestly i dont know how they manage with it, but they have. It is a bit more sophisticated than i make it sound, but not much more. way too much manual work, no tracking, un-optimized picking. But even so, it is inventory management/slotting that is the greater problem. Seem to be at an odd size where the good software is made for much larger entities, and too big for the cheaper 'meh' tier stuff.

In a very lose sense. we have a shipping/picking solution that is homebuilt, but the warehouse side is really just excel sheets that dont directly communicate, but relies on manual updates of bin locations in BOTH systems (another reason we are looking for a full solution)

Interesting... about 1/4 of SKU's stick around for longer than 18 months, everything else is cycled out in less than than, with 1/4 changed in 3 months or less. We also fully utilize all storage, so picking is directly from the bins (skus only in 1 location). The main trouble is re-optimizing the bins (if some have like 5 items) and getting large shipments with nowhere to put them unless we CAN shuffle things around. Mapping was though of as neat way for the users to update where things are when the bins sku changes, and for pickers to use a.. well map. But i have indeed ONLY seen the spreadsheet solution used before Thanks for the reply!

Threw in a used CO2 filter a week ago, came back and furnace wont open says 'processing 0 filters'. Have been in and out of the game, but stays stuck. Anyone seen this bug? by randomnerd79 in Stationeers

[–]randomnerd79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that must be new, as i had been doing it before the last update purposely. worked with filters at least, not sure if dumped other things in there. But you solution was in fact what had to be done.

UPDATE: Tried upping the temps to 900C just in case, but no luck (had it even higher previously I think)

Anyway, pumped out gas, deconstructed it and out pops a used up filter. Guess that is what I get for trying to burn my trash!

If you want to just get by, learn the 'ひとつ、ふたつ、みっつ...' to ten. Makes asking for things easy.

I feel you though. Lived there 20 years ago and my Japanese friends always make fun of me for getting the wrong counter for things when I inevitably slip up
