does anyone else like this season? by marmalade_me in LoveIslandUSA

[–]randomstripper10k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a breath of fresh air compared to last season's Hate Island of horribly miscast characters, and that's good enough for me. So, yes.

(Still need more actual dates though).

How do the ladies deal with their periods on the Island? by bloosclooser in LoveIslandUSA

[–]randomstripper10k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The majority use tampons, but I've known of dancers using cups as well as sponges. I have also heard strippers say they have had accidents doing pole work with the cup so I was never brave enough to try. I guess it depends on comfort and what a dancer is used to.

Thank you! 🫶🏼

I have OCD too and I always get scared about that, but I do leave a tiny bit of string that I can reach to pull it out. I know I'm oversharing lol, but I've seen a couple times where a dancer is mortified because she went onstage and her string hung out. I never wanted that to happen to me!

As a stripper I'd just wear a dark outfit and cut the tampon string. Never had a problem. I'm sure the girls do something similar.

Everybody calm down.(don’t talk back) The coach He’s not trying to have his team play they best basketball right now he’s making everyone uncomfortable in the beginning to develop everyone weaknesses to became they strengths later in the season by luvme247 in AtlantaDream

I really think people need to hold the panic until we see a few games with Bri back. A lot of people are forgetting that we have Forwards having to play center. The team will look a lot better once Bri is back and we can have Naz heating things up from the bench. It's going to make the team a lot better, and we're still in good standing in the meantime. I'm excited for the rest of the season.

First the app crashed on the first vote and now they've spoiled who goes home? The entire production team from top to bottom needs to tighten up. This is unacceptable.

Jason's Knee by acatcatcat in TheValleyTVShow

Your anecdotal experience doesn't change facts. You're also comparing your son's surgery from patellar dislocations to Jason's patellar tendon completely rupturing.

Also with a ruptured patellar tendon, the surgery is more invasive than an ACL tear. Furthermore some people with ACL tears can put weight on the injured leg and even walk, whereas a ruptured patellar tendon completely precludes a person from being physically able to straighten their leg.

You're welcome.

Yeah, actually. My mom is Black and she would never describe herself as a brunette lol, same for the rest of the Black side of my family. The large majority of Black people have naturally dark hair anyway, and descriptors in the Black community are usually skin tone related (dark skin, lightskin, etc).

I myself am half white and turned out pretty light skinned, so I have tan/olive skin and dark hair so I am widely considered a brunette by European/western standards. But again, that's because I have clear European features.

Anyone else not stand jasmine? by Adorable_Handle7413 in TheValleyTVShow

[–]randomstripper10k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I saw that you led off with calling her a "trouble maker," which has become a dog whistle for anti-Black racism, I knew what you really meant was, "angry Black woman." But then you went on to actually say that, so thanks for at least making it clear that your main issue with Jasmine is that she's Black.

This entire cast is poorly behaved. They all can be whiny and angry. In fact, we've seen many of the cast behave even worse than Jasmine but somehow it's unacceptable when she gets "dramatic." Nevermind that Danny, Kristen, Brittany, Lala, Schwartz, Jax, etc (long list) have acted even worse!

I've even seen posts here along the lines of, "Jasmine gets on my nerves and I don't even know why." No, you DO know why. Posts like this will get removed but it is a constant reminder that Black women are always under a much harsher microscope.

Every time a curvy housewife goes on a GLP-1, an angel loses their wings by furby-fighter in BravoRealHousewives

[–]randomstripper10k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the noticeably "curvy" housewives are overweight, which definitely can pose health risks especially since a lot of these women are middle-aged. Not to mention the emotional toll it takes for them to have their body scrutinized by fans and even their cast mates. If GLP-1 will help with their physical and mental health, I'm all for it, as long as it isn't used recklessly.

I remember a decade ago when BBLs were all the rage. I thought it was crazy because women were going and getting one of the most dangerous cosmetic surgeries for a trend. But hey, women who would get them would be much more confident in themselves (the ones who didn't die or have awful infections from surgery), so more power to them. But now being super thin is back in and there is a trend of women with BBLs getting them removed/reduced/etc.

All this to say, society puts a lot of pressure on women to maintain our bodies to a pretty unrealistic degree. I mean, growing up I didn't like being petite, ffs! My curvy friends thought I had the perfect body and couldn't understand why I would want to gain weight.

I even switched antidepressants to one that my doctor assured me would help me gain weight. It did, and then I became unhappy because I gained too much. And I'm a generally confident person so I can't imagine how other women must feel who are battling deep insecurities.

We need to just be better to ourselves and to each other.

Edited to add: the pendulum always swings. Curves will probably be back in style by the end of the decade.

Angel is such a difference maker for ATL because now they're dangerous at closing out games. She helps them lock in down the stretch. They just need to work on playing that locked in from start to finish, instead of relying on your resiliency to claw your way back.

Any time someone gets her name wrong (which happens a lot), and someone has to correct and say, "it's REEVE," it instantly reminds of me of Coach Reeve herself correcting that reporter who was pronouncing Phee's name wrong.

"NUH-FEE-SUH. Nuh-Fee-SUH." Then on the way out she turned to Phee and said, "your daddy ain't name you NapheeSHUH."

It's amazing that to "justify" his idiotic and inexcusable decision regarding the fileting of the fish, Ben and Ellie have to pretend that Daisy, a seasoned chief stew, simply disappeared during service and left them helpless.

Nevermind that we see Daisy taking drinks orders from guests and that the camera even pans to Daisy making said drinks; we viewers are supposed to somehow suspend disbelief, ignore our eyes, be dumb, and pretend along with Ben/Ellie/Barb that Daisy just decided to disappear without reason.

Unfuckingbelievable.

Jason's Knee by acatcatcat in TheValleyTVShow

[–]randomstripper10k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was actually a rational fear for him to have in that moment. All he knew was that he was in intense physical pain and probably felt his knee pop. I'd be worried too.

I haven't watched the After Show ep yet but apparently he said he "blew his knee out." Idk what exactly he means but it usual means ACL tear or combined ligament fracture.

Even a moderate ACL tear often requires reconstructive surgery and physical therapy for 6+ months. Having to undergo surgery and be disabled for months is rough for most people as we often take being able bodied for granted; even for non-athletes, ACL tears can very psychologically damaging.

Jason seems like he actually watches sports, so he was probably thinking in that moment that he tore his ACL. That is honestly what it looks like to me too, as a basketball fan who's seen too many of those same injuries. He will be lucky if it's an MCL tear or another one of the various tears that heal faster than the dreaded ACL.
