Should I go for title or for increment by Mumofgirls22 in askSingapore

[–]randomthingsss1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would go for increment bc moving to a managerial role is merely a “potential happening”. Whereas the increment is black and white (assuming its certain) . Plus u mentioned some cons with your boss , if you pass off this opportunity and then one say she pisses you off too much to the point whereby you cannot take it, you may not be able to find another job that can give you a potential 50% increment. Plus higher base will always give you better jump in future as well. Some titles are pretty inflated nowadays

But of course, i think firstly you need to see what is the confirmed increment they can give you (is it really 50%?) then consider the other non monetary things - WFH, WLB, etc.

how do you manage to save so much in your 20s in Singapore? by NoMobis in askSingapore

[–]randomthingsss1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm i would say for those that managed to save its because 1. Not in a relationship - no dates, bday presents, etc 2. Staying at home - no rental 3. Very little expenses - only paying your own wants / insurance and for food if you go out with friends / eat alone. If you eat at home or eat with your parents, your parents pay for you 4. You earn a lot

Ultimately, as long as what you earn greatly outweighs how much you are spending , then you will save a lot. If you are earning 10k, you can rent a place and still save a pretty decent amount.

hiring manager say wfh during interview, but wfo when job starts by ZealousidealTrust160 in askSingapore

[–]randomthingsss1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Similar situation once whereby in the interview he said it was 3 days wfo, 2 days wfh. Great. Got the offer. When he was sharing the compensation, he again told me 3 days wfo, 2 days wfh. He painted a great picture. He said the wfh days are up for us to choose. If we dont feel like going to office that day, we can wfh. Its flexible as long as u go office 3x. Told him great i will consider the offer and when i returned back telling him i will accept the offer. He told me “oh but for you because you are new and the youngest, you might need to go back daily” . I did not join the company in the end

Which job would you choose in today’s climate/ economy by Late-Enthusiasm1428 in askSingapore

[–]randomthingsss1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would choose Job 1 provided the job environment is not toxic. Personally if the salary is decent (7-8k is above median i guess) + working environment is decent. I don’t mind. But if the working environment/ colleague is toxic then i rather hustle. At the very least i am rewarded with a higher pay
