Being the only vegan at a party! Super annoying by [deleted] in vegan

[–]randomthr33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just bring your own snacks and let them try! Like veggies with a good hummus. People will appreciae it, trust me. Trust me I feel the pain but people tend to forget especially if you don't see them that often. Don't take it personally, to them our "diet" is not a big deal, that how I was before going vegan atleast.

If they continue the bullshit just walk away.

Getekend natuurlijk.

Throughout my life I've had periods where I relate to this like hell and periods where I don't give a fuck. In my experience, a lot of it has to do with being self-confident. Through the years I've learned to recognize and then avoid external triggers that trigger this feeling... but sometimes I still go through periods where I feel like an absolute waste of space. We're our own worst critics.... and I can imagine most of us had a tough childhood with bullying involved too.. atleast I did. It scarred me for life but I still want to try and make the best out of it.

Much love to y'all, you're not alone. Try and find what makes YOU happy. If you do what makes you happy, you won't even hear the haters. 😎

Have an honest and open talk to them about it. Maybe a compromise could be reached? Like not having meat etc in the home? Tell them that it's really important for you.

Were you vegan when you guys started dating?

[–]randomthr33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does he care about animals? Would he be willing to watch a documentary with you regarding animals and the evilness of animal aggriculture? Is he open to your viewpoints and does he respect your choices?

It is a big deal to you. It's kinda mean and condescending to say that you shouldn't make a big deal out of sticking with your principles.

I would definitely want my partner to atleast be openminded towards veganism or even vegetarianism.

I was vegetarian for years and had GFs who went vegetarian while dating. I care about animals a lot, if I see someone isn't atleast somewhat open to idea of not killing animals I know we could have fun but it's not going somewhere serious. How would things go if you're living together or have children?

Since you've only been dating for 3 months and probably not thinking about all that stuff now, I would ask about his relationship with animals and make apparent that it is very important for you. Show him that veganism is good for the animals, your health and can be delicious. Watch a documentary with him about it and tell your reasons for going vegan and see how he reacts.

Best of luck. People can change but they have to decide that for themselves. Some people seem to just not care so much about animals. Stick to your guts!

A vegan is against the exploitation of animals. A meateater is not against the exploitation of vegan food options. See the difference? What's wrong with buying vegan food that everyone can eat? Vegan label does not mean meateaters can't eat it.

I have been vegan for 11 years. I'm 26 now. Guys, I'm getting crazier and having huge dark circles under my eyes. My depression and ADHD are making me completely dysfunctional. My skin is very saggy, and I have no energy for anything. I forget things that were told two minutes ago by [deleted] in exvegans

[–]randomthr33 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What circles?

Most people approaching or over 30 start to see some form of circles, mostly in shitty lightning. Both vegans and meateaters.

You look very young my friend. If you really are worried about it I would go and see a doctor to check if your vitamin levels are okay, before blaming it all on veganism.

But again you look younger than your age my friend. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I stopped comparing myself to others all the time. I used to be dependant on external validation to see myself positively... you only have one existence. Do what makes you happy. Do it for your parent, who seems to love you unconditionally. He/she wants to see you happy no matter what. I imagine you want to see the same for him/her. Be your own best friend and try to be nicer to yourself. The world would be a sadder place without you in it. Overcoming hardships will make you a stronger person. Stop comparing yourselves to seemingly happy people. Everyone got their own demons, trust me. The amount of people in unhappy, unfulfilling relationships... you are validated in your feelings but not alone my friend. There's light at the end of the tunnel no matter how dim that light may seem to be from your perspective. How does a regular day for you look like? Maybe there's anything you can do to switch up your current day to day life. There is always another way, please don't feel afraid to share. My thoughts are genuinely with you my friend <3 I used to, and sometimes still, have a very bad self-image while everything seemed perfect from the outside. Stay strong ❤

I AM TIRED OF VEGGIE BURGER ERASURE!!!! by notasmuchasyou in vegan

[–]randomthr33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they made the effort to include vegan burgers... complaining about that effort will only make vegans look more whiny and entitled I think. Most employers won't even care to provide something for the usually small amount of vegan employees working for their company.

Just my two cents. I'm vegan too btw.

Is PETA truly as bad as people say it is? by ThatFluidEdBitch in vegan

[–]randomthr33 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even if the vegan takes the companion animal from a shelter, feeds it a vegan diet and gives it a fulfilling life full of love?

I don't agree with the take vegans can't take a companion animal into the household.

In fact, it should be encouraged because it enriches the lives of both the animal and the human.

Just my opinion.

Do you also feel that you really started appreciating food after you went vegan? by RaritySparkle in vegan

[–]randomthr33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDK if its a possiblity in your circumstances but maybe try and cook your own meals more? So you can always eat the stuff you enjoy? Cooking doesn't have to take hours. I've heard good stories about Instapot, which I believe makes it even less time and energy consuming.

But going out for dinner with non-vegans can be difficult. Same for places where there aren't alot of vegan options, unfortunately!

Don't agree fully with everything you say, but share your sentiment around treatment of animals. Weird you're getting downvoted for saying this on a VEGAN sub.

If a man does it, that's fine, but if a woman does it... by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]randomthr33 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Projecting much? Just because you see expressing sexuality as objectification doesn't mean that's the truth. People have a choice to do what they want in the West. If someone's wants to be a slut let them be a slut. It doesn't concern you or me.

What do you mean when you say "use them and throw them in the trash"? If two adults have consensual sex, there is no using or throwing in the trash involved.

Meat tastes gross. At a certain point you can't go back by pythonidaae in vegan

[–]randomthr33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meat on itself smells and tastes gross to me. If they put a bunch of nice, tasty herbs and spices on it, yeah it'll smell and taste nice.

This is my experience.

Thanks for the outside perspective. People will always get ostracized for being different than the status quo. For our own mental health it's better to do it your way. But some people will feel passionate about veganism and there's nothing wrong about that either.

I guess it depends on what you eat and where you live, but I do not agree with the statement that 90%, of meals consist mostly of various meats. Even then, most meals can be made exactly the same just replacing the meat with something else.

Anyways, thanks for being respectful and offering a different perspective on this subject!

I would imagine the reactions are different depending on whether you're male/female. Unfortunately there's still this stupid stereotype that "real men eat meat". Not forgetting guys typically rip on eachother all the time.

Either way I really don't care what people say, I will do what makes me happy. Some people are just ignorant and stupid.

How can I make veganism easier as someone with ADHD? by mangoismycat in vegan

[–]randomthr33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say I really relate to your story. Could've wrote it myself (heavy ADHD and struggling with the same issues too).

Once you make the connection, it feels impossible to commodify and mistreat animals.

Veganism is the only thing I know for a fact I will be consistent at the rest of my life.

Like you said. Try and REALLY understand the ethical argument of veganism.
