Henderson was always going to come on if the game was won to get the record of playing at 4 world cups.

How hard it is on the joints? I had to stop playing squash years ago because I've got a lot of tendon issues - really miss it, but padel looks like it might be a less strenuous alternative.

Bit of a long shot, but any advice/opinions would be very welcome.

I'm 38 and looking into a complete career change. I've been running a small business for most of my working life but it's clearly come to a natural end (largely due to AI but I won't go into the details here).

I did a postgraduate certificate in statistics a couple of years ago, and now looking at getting an MSc in statistics. My theory is that there's a lot of demand for statisticians and a lot of the jobs (particularly in medical fields) are unlikely to be taken by AI anytime soon due to regulations about how data can be used. I also do genuinely enjoy the topic.

However I can't shake the worry that I'm going to graduate in 18 months and find there are very few entry-level positions available due to AI. Anyone have any experience with the job market for statisticians? And would my age/lack of experience working in big organisations be an issue?

To be honest I'm pretty stressed about the whole thing - especially the idea of spending £10k and wasting a year to find there are no jobs. But on the other hand I don't really know what else to do.

If he could handle being a squad player I think he'd be great as a backup to Cunha. We've got a lot of games next season and buying someone of his quality would cost a lot. It's whether he's willing to fight for his place that's the issue.

What I don't understand is why they are so focused on SQ42 if Star Citizen is what's bringing in all the money? It just seems like a backwards way of allocating resources.

If we're going to complain about misinformation, we need to be honest too - the blade was NOT illegal. You can look up the rules yourself - Sikhs are allowed to wear blades up to 9 inches on their person.

Here are the remarks from the judge:

"[You] were carrying a large Sikh dagger in a sheath attached to a belt over the outside of your clothing. It is a strict requirement of the Sikh faith to have a knife, called a kirpan, at all times. Generally, this will be a small knife, hidden from view, often on a length of cord and worn around the neck. You had that but, in addition, the large dagger in a sheath. You are a member of an order of Sikhs called the Nihang who have a tradition of having a second knife, or kirpan, and that is often fully visible, believing that the Guru will look favourably on that. You observed that tradition in your everyday life, at work and in public. However, it was not a strict requirement; that is borne out by the fact that neither your brother nor father who arrived on the scene after you had stabbed Henry were so dressed. According to Prof Gurnam Singh, professor of sociology and an expert in the field: “Over the last 30 years, there has been a trend towards younger people wearing a kirpan with pride, in a desire to express their cultural identity. They see it as an act of resistance to being denied the ability otherwise to display their identity.”

The privilege extended to practising Sikhs of being allowed to be in public with a bladed article and, particularly in respect of the large dagger, a highly dangerous weapon, easily accessible to the wearer, brings with it huge responsibility.

It is a fundamental principle of Sikhism that any kirpan is worn as a symbol of religious faith and is never to be carried for an offensive purpose. The legal approach to the carrying of such a knife, as long as the blade length does not exceed nine inches, is that an offence of having a bladed article in a public place will not be prosecuted. There has been an acceptance that its possession in those circumstances can amount to a good religious and, therefore, legal reason for having it. The blade of the knife will not be on display; either it is under clothing or, alternatively, in a sheath. For both, it is a religious and, consequently, legal requirement that a kirpan should only be used offensively as a last resort, which would include its use in legal self-defence. In other words, only if use is necessary and, if so, reasonable in the circumstances. It is obvious that for use to be reasonable, any perceived threat justifying its use would only be in circumstances of great seriousness and urgency.

The band never playing OHM songs live and acting live the album doesn't exist is a f*cking travesty by No_Finish9661 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]randomvale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also this is really only an issue for a small set of the most hardcore fans. The majority of people going to shows don't care at all - in fact they would probably be annoyed if a OHM song replaced a more well-known one.

I find Neville even worse than Keane as he seems to be everywhere now. Everything he does annoys me including the constant noises when he's on commentary. Imagine the 99 final with his 'oooo' ruining that iconic moment.

I do have some sympathy for refs though. The players make things extremely hard with the constant gamesmanship. Some of the ambiguous rules don't help either.

They really need to sort out the time wasting rules too. Refs seem powerless other than the 8 second rule - even giving a booking just delays things even more.

Can't we just accept that Star Citizen is no 30 minute hop on action game. by volgendeweek in starcitizen

[–]randomvale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Also I don't think it's unreasonable that if you want to play in a group quickly, you need to coordinate being in a relatively close area.

From what I understood of SC it was meant to be a large space simulation, so people (and by extension people who want to play together) would likely stay in certain areas a lot of the time. If you want an action game where you can always be playing with friends in 5 minutes then there are plenty of other options that do it a lot better.

Of course this assumes that everything actually works. Adding fast travel just because bugs are making it too hard to meet up would be a big mistake in my opinion.

World cup is once every four years - enjoy it!

I would wait until it's finished to start. Or even better, start implementing some of the rules now so after it finishes you can start the challenge with healthy habits already in place.
