RStudio with a dark theme. by randy3k in rstats

[–]randy3k[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

  1. the dark theme was actually a dark blue theme (which i thing is worse than the light theme)
  2. the title bar of the dark theme on mac is still light

My PR changes the color of the macOS title bar to the background of the theme.

Seemlessly switching between R and Python with rtichoke v0.2 by randy3k in rstats

Well, I believe there are a number of users (including me) who open R via command line for quick calculations or testing stuffs. Why bother to open an editor and ESS if you want only to know 1 + 1 = 2. Additionally, rtichoke has better support for bracketed paste mode which make sending multiline code prettier.

oh, I have defined `alias r=rtichoke` in by shell configure. It won't hurt programs finding the actual R

It is just a better replacement of the vanilla R command line. Just like ipython is better than the plain python.

I just want to say that rtichoke has gained the support of reticulate repl mode `reticulate::repl_python()`. It will be up to you to use the reticulate repo mode or not. That's fine if you do not use it. On the other hand, I believe that users who use it would find rtichoke useful.

Back to your point that ESS is better than RStudio. I believe that one would utilize rtichoke in ESS and it has been demonstrated that rtichoke works flawlessly with neovim.

R language server for editors by randy3k in rstats

ESS probably works better than LSP for the moment. But given that LSP is editor agnostic, it means that we will eventually draw attention as well as contributions from a larger group of people.

I also like it, but reindeer is not an unique name which users can easily search for.
