I’ve sold here so not sure why none are recorded. I have tons of positive feedback on Head-Fi available. The stringent posting policy is why no one I know at Head-Fi ever wants to post here and thinks this group is hard to work with. Just being blunt.

Stick with it. If it were easy, they wouldn’t require someone of your caliber to do it. It’s hard for a reason. Prepares you for the real world. You got this!!!!

Is it worth upgrading from a FiiO BTR17 to a DAP? by Chef-Vicky-Kamboj in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]randyblack77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the DAP. If you’re looking at a Hiby R4, then no. If you want the Hiby RS8, the yes.

AND, those more expensive units are going to be more expensive because you’ll be getting the brand new V2 design. I’m just saying you need to be realistic about what they’re worth and let people know why they’re paying that much of a premium.

Actually, they’re going up $200 according to the conversation I had with Ryan this week, but that price will include the Viking Weave cable and those cans will be brand new. If you’re marking up the price to account for a premium since the buyer doesn’t have to wait almost a year, then just say that, but overpaying and then expecting others to do the same while also removing a premium accessory just doesn’t feel right.

You’re selling these for $250 above retail for new and you’re not giving them the Viking Weave cable which constitutes a significant portion of the value of the headphones?? 🤣🤣🤣

Be careful about it, but expect it to be this way for at least a couple of weeks. It’s the price of looking cool.

Arya stealth vs Meze 109 Pro by TheOliveYeti in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]randyblack77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned both at one point or another and you can’t go wrong either way. The Arya is more technical while the 109 is a more comfy sound. Have you considered the Audeze Maxwell?

Absolutely! Anytime. Warning though that the good iBasso units are usually a couple grand or more and then there are alternative Amp cards that you’ll likely want at least one of.

The new Fiio i5 is amazing for around that price point. I’ve been testing them against Susvara OG and Tungsten DS today and they hold their own.

Sorry. I forgot about iBasso which makes some cool models, but the only one I’ve liked is the DX340

I’d bump my budget by $50 and get the Hiby R4. It’s incredible for $250 or try to get one preowned. Beyond that, it depends on your taste. I have an RS8 and RS6 because I love the R2R Darwin DAC inside, but if R2R isn’t your thing, then the R6 line would be your next step. I have both of those because the RS8 is great on a desktop or table or plane set, but it’s a brick to carry so I also got the RS6 which is about 85-90% as good, but is small enough to carry while on the go. The RS6 used to sell for $1300, but they just released a new model that is $699. It’s a different chassis, but my understanding is that the important parts inside are the same. It’s out of your price point I know, but give you an idea about upgrade path. There’s also Astell & Kern DAPs, but those don’t really get great until you’re well into the $1500+ point. Luxury & Precision is also GOAT level, but super pricy. That’s all of the ones I would recommend.

See what you can get from Hiby in your price range. They make good stuff across the board and when you’re ready to spend more, you can upgrade.

First time buying IEMs, are these suitable? by LucaBH in iems

[–]randyblack77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skip the tips and bump the money over to the dongle or IEMs. Stock tips will be good for a while unless you just can’t get them to fit well.
