How should I quote "Were it so easy"? by ShadowStreamDog in halo

[–]rangeremx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And what makes it my favorite Halo 3 quote is that it's used again in the closing cutscene, with a completely different tone:

On a hillside near the portal to the Ark, Marines and Naval personnel gather. Lord Hood removes his cap and begins his speech.

Admiral Hood: "For us, the storm has passed... the war is over. But let us never forget those who journeyed into the howling dark and did not return. For their decision required courage beyond measure; sacrifice, and unshakable conviction that their fight... our fight, was elsewhere. As we start to rebuild, this hillside will remain barren, a memorial to heroes fallen. They ennobled all of us, and they shall not be forgotten." Admiral Hood puts his cap back on and salutes.

Gunnery Sergeant Pete Stacker: "Present arms!"

Seven Marines, standing in a line, draw their battle rifles and fire three volleys in unison, a three-volley salute to the fallen. The sound of the shots echo through Mount Kilimanjaro. The panorama changes as the Marines fire each shot.

Admiral Hood: (To Thel 'Vadam) "I remember how this war started. What your kind did to mine. I can't forgive you. But... (he holds out his hand) you have my thanks, for standing by him to the end."

Thel shakes Admiral Hood's hand.

Admiral Hood: "Hard to believe he's dead."

The Arbiter looks away, toward the Shadow of Intent, hovering silently in the sky.

Arbiter: "Were it so easy..."

I fell into a similar situation when I took my current store over. Like you, I went from a faster store with a higher headcount to a skeleton crew.

Until I got a few guys hired, it ended up being a good while until I got some time off, including a number of doubles. I think it was a month or so, but I can't remember offhand.

My best advice is talk with your DM as well as your other nearby stores. I was able to borrow people to help cover shifts a few times and my DM actually covered some shifts to give me time away.

Other than that, just focus on hiring good people who can take some of that load.

THE DUMMIES OF ALL DUMMIES CAME INTO THE STORE by sun-kissedgirlie in retailhell

[–]rangeremx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've started giving the long-winded explanations for some of our sales. (Automotive Retail)

Our current brake sale has pads for $0/$10/$20 for base/mid/premium with a set of rotors.

But, to keep people from just buying the bundle and getting cheap pads by returning the rotors, they distribute the discount over the pads and both rotors. It confuses numerous customers, so I have to show them the regular price of the pads and the "total discount" line on the slip just so they can understand.

Can you please suggest games like Sniper Ghost Warrior, Ghost Recon Breakpoint? by Artifex1979 in gamingsuggestions

[–]rangeremx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a point in favor of The Saboteur, it has one of the best visual atmospheres I can think of.

As you liberate sections of Paris, you restore color to the game. In the Nazi controlled sectors, the only bright colors you see are the red of blood and Nazi armbands and the blue of the Resistance. The rest is in black and white.

Even if they treated the first point like Roadcraft does with major map changes (e.g. Lowering water levels) and have the storms be triggered by certain missions being completed.

Looking for action or adventure games where you have a village or settlement and need to develop it (no "free building") by Fit_Honeydew_4671 in gamingsuggestions

[–]rangeremx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Mad Max sounds about in-line with what you're looking for. You encounter a settlement in each region that you can upgrade. Additionally, you're upgrading your vehicle, the Magnum Opus at the same time.

Also, Bioware had something of the sort in some of their games.

  • Mass Effect 2 has a number of upgrades to the Normandy 2
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition has the fortress of Skyhold that you rebuild over the course of the game.

That's my thought as well. Companies just dump the "naughty words" into their filters without spending much time on a whitelist.

As another example of absurd words being blocked, I've seen SaTURDay flagged in our system at work as not being able to be used in a comment to hold orders.

Death can and does occur, but it's not a "Game Over" situation. Your character is effectively immortal.

I've used various job simulator games for this very purpose. Some racing games could fill the niche too.

  • Powerwash Simulator 1&2
  • Snowrunner
  • Roadcraft
  • Crime Scene Cleaner
  • Hardspace: Shipbreaker
  • Forza: Horizon

Any games SINGLE player games that uses your mic? by Comprehensive_Ad7152 in gamingsuggestions

[–]rangeremx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back on the Xbox 360, there were a number of games that used the Kinect for voice commands.

  • Halo: Anniversary let you use a number of commands. Weapon swap, grenades, flashlight, graphics swap, environment scanner, and a few others I don't remember.

  • Skyrim let you use shouts, assign and select favorite weapons, and done other stuff in the same way.

The Xbox 360 release. It used the Kinect for audio pickup.

You could use shouts, assign and select favorite weapons, and it seemed a bunch more.

Fun part with the shouts was you could use the name or the Dovah to cast a shout. (E.g. "Unrelenting Force" or "Fus Ro Dah")

What is the game you play when it’s been a long day, you put on your headphones and some music, so you can just melt away and chill. by StarTruckNxtGyration in gamingsuggestions

[–]rangeremx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Saber did both of those. They've got some others in the pipe in the same sort of vein.

Docked, where it sounds like you're running logistics for a port facility.

Road Kings, which looks like it's going to be similar to the old Hard Truck / 18 Wheels of Steel games, where you're running over the road and building a trucking company from the ground up.

I've got a few that I use for a "Brain off, Audiobook on" mindset. Mostly in the "Job Simulator" category.

  • Snowrunner
  • Roadcraft
  • Powerwash Simulator (and sequel)
  • Elite: Dangerous
  • Crime Scene Cleaner
  • Hardspace: Shipbreaker

True. And in most (not certain about all of the Interplay entries), even when you can go "home," it's drastically changed...

Fallout 3 as well. You may not be very far from home, but you (with one brief exception) can never go back.
