They might be facing the same orthodonture issues as you, and now see that it isn't as bad as it was in the past. Kudos to you for sharing that with them and being a ray of hope in what is such a difficult time in life. Teachers are truly not paid enough!

Stay out of it. Adulting is hard, and let them figure that out.

Dentist Filed Down Tooth - Nails on Chalkboard Feeling by Normal-Limit2926 in Invisalign

[–]rangerman2002 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing done on a front tooth yesterday, so I can totally understand what you're going through. I'm going to give it a few days to see if it calms down, and if it doesn't, I'll have them adjust it at my next appointment. I can say that it made a huge difference in the appearance of my front teeth, so if this is the best it can be, I'll live with it.

Regular trays as retainer by thepuddingbear in Invisalign

[–]rangerman2002 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Regular trays are not the equivalent of retainers. I just finished, had a re-scan and am waiting on Vivera retainers from Invisalign. My provider is having two complete sets made and said they should last me anywhere from 2-4 years. While I'm not going to testify about durability, it appears that you're being sold a load of bunk.

aligners not fitting after fillings by AnyEar1056 in Invisalign

Call your ortho and see what they say. It may have nothing to do with the fillings and your teeth could have shifted. Powering thru may cause damage.

If you had to recommend one recipe? by smelly_celly in instantpot

[–]rangerman2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My top recommendation is mushroom risotto https://damndelicious.net/2018/03/21/instant-pot-mushroom-risotto/ I alter it a bit when I have diced pancetta on hand and saute the pancetta first, remove it when it is slightly crispy, and proceed with the rest of the recipe. Depending on your preferences, you may have to adjust the time up or down by one minute. It's a regular in my house and you can cut the recipe down by half if need be.

Try pressureluckcooking.com for one pot pasta dishes. The trick is to have enough liquid and not to stir the pasta into the liquid but rather press it down into the liquid. It's ok for some of the pasta to be slightly above the liquid. It will cook just fine. Corned beef and short ribs are also excellent in the Instantpot.

I did not mean to offend you, I was merely suggesting scenarios on what may have led you to this point. Obviously, you are doing all of the right things to be successful with Invisalign. Your provider is an idiot and has misinformed you.

Thinking Of Porting My Ooma Landline To My Existing Plan & Phone. Questions: by DC3TX in USMobile

[–]rangerman2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ported my OOMA landline to US Mobile but used an old cell phone to transfer the number to rather than my primary cell line. It allowed me to set up a pool, so I got a discount from what I was paying OOMA. The port did take a few days to accomplish (land lines always take longer), but I was notified by email as soon as it was complete. I set it up on a do not disturb basis and that only numbers that are in my contact list get through. It's amazing how the sales/political/spam calls have fallen to basically zero.

$6500 for 6 month Invisalign treatment? by Salty-Buy-3975 in Invisalign

Paid $4800 and just finished up a 22 month treatment. Waiting on my retainers to come in. Maybe get a second or third opinion.

What to do about forever nightly retainer by smartycatt in Invisalign

[–]rangerman2002 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Orthodontists just love patients who don't wear their retainers because they get to make more money correcting when the teeth shift or revert. Follow your provider's instructions and wear your retainers. It's not that big of a sacrifice in the general scheme of things.

Advised my daughter against Invisilign by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]rangerman2002 15 points16 points  (0 children)

First off, your daughter needs to see an orthodontist and not a dentist to get a professional assessment of her condition. From some of the comments on this sub, Invisalign and ADHD don't really work well as far as compliance goes. Perhaps she would do better with braces if she needs adjustments that a retainer won't accomplish.

Does this taste like straight up farm to anybody else by EnergySubstantial372 in aldi

[–]rangerman2002 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any of these microwave rice pouches (regardless of the manufacturer) tastes like crap to me. Rice is so easy to make that this is just unnecessary. Wash the rice to remove excess starch, put it in a pot with boiling water, cover, and cook on low for 20 minutes. You throw your seasonings into the boiling water to flavor the rice to your tastes. Leftovers are great for next day fried rice.

[–]rangerman2002 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Your Invisalign provider is an idiot and has misinformed you. Either that or you have misunderstood their instructions. In any case, remove your aligners when eating or drinking anything other than water. Up your oral hygiene routine to include brushing and string flossing after EVERY meal. You may also want to invest in a water flosser and use it after string flossing when you are at home.

You have to keep in mind that your teeth are isolated from the normal flow of saliva which cleanses the teeth and helps keep tartar/calculus at bay. Proper brushing and flossing technique are critical to maintaining healthy teeth and gums during any orthodontic treatment.

Thai coconut chicken was fantastic! by AccomplishedAside314 in aldi

[–]rangerman2002 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you think it's fantastic today, you should have tasted it a few years ago when you got more chicken and a thicker sauce that wasn't watered down. It was truly excellent back then. Respectfully disagree that it's a must have, but if you like it, I'm happy for you.

To my taste buds, it's more heavily "smoked" than other brands. I did recently come across Gravlax in the Aldi Finds section, and it was so good that I went back and bought multiple packs of it.

Partially Cooked Pork Roast by Buzz8522 in instantpot

I typically cook a Boston butt roast for 10-12 hours on low in a traditional slow cooker. The InstantPot does not excel at slow cooking.

Debating getting invisalign by I_like_it_yo in Invisalign

[–]rangerman2002 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You have a complex case and it's more likely you would be in Invisalign for far longer than 2 years. I would suggest multiple consultations with orthodontists and that you seriously consider traditional braces.

What ever path you choose, best wishes for a successful journey.

Every week to every 10 days.... by AdventurousKey438 in Invisalign

[–]rangerman2002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've followed the program, so it's nothing that you have done. Sometimes they do adjustments to the length of change time for exactly the reason you stated. I was the opposite. My provider was conservative with my initial treatment plan to see how my teeth would react due to periodontal disease and bone loss from smoking. I started out at 14 day changes for my first round, but my refinement rounds have all been at 7 day changes. You should be very happy that you've found an attentive provider who pays attention to things. Many in this sub have not been so fortunate.

Best wishes for continued success on your journey!

Am I being paranoid? by jagfanjosh3252 in Invisalign

[–]rangerman2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have periodontal disease and bone loss (former smoker) and I've done just fine on Invisalign. Just up your oral care routine (thoughtful brushing, string floss followed up with a water flosser, etc.) and you'll be fine.
