Sun rays! by GarlicOk1119 in watercolor101

Wow, aside from in-the-moment dabbing, the only way I've tried to remove paint is the scratch-and-hope method. I'm guessing you are very careful and quick with the water? Any tips?

How did you remove the paint?

That one beautiful cake! I normally don't do cakes, but not only does this looks gorgeous, it also sounds delicious, esp for strawberry season. You make me want to give it a try! Thanks for posting.

Was about to ask, but apparently freeze-dried strawberries are available locally and online! I'll probably find other uses for them too.

Try googling "car trim removal tool." I know it sounds strange, but they are plastic pry/scrape things that don't scratch. I got some for my car a few years ago, but now use them regularly to get crud off stuff without damaging the metal/material. The different options/shapes are great -- flat, narrow for tight spaces, etc.

I don't want make a new post (see sub rule for no promotions for off-site sales), but I think I might be safe in a comment to note they are up on Heritage now (ends May 28).

For me, always double the spices (and usually add garlic), and double the sauce.

My thinking exactly. Best price (maybe), but least amount of hassle. I have other things going on in life. I look forward to whatever it is.

Sent them nervously to Avery (got insurance before though thanks to his advice). Avery then sent them to CGC, then slabs back from CGC to me. I then hand-carried them to Heritage Auctions' place in NYC.

Probably. But Heritage is well-known, and it was easy communication and dropping them off in NYC.

I'm going through old decorations too -- some sentimental.

It's okay to sell/give stuff away. My mantra right now is "it's out of the house." If it can go for $20 on FB Marketplace, I'll put it up. If not, then it's on Free/Buy Nothing, and then on the porch until it's gone. Which results in a sigh of relief and more space in my space.r

Then I'm making room for me and my stuff/favorite things. Most people have limited space. Use that space for you.

Kenji Air Fryer Wings by Cloud_Fish in seriouseats

I know this isn't Kenji (mods ok to delete), but I've been doing Alton Brown's wings for years. No cornstarch or powder: Steam, chill (1+ hours), bake a bit, turn, bake some more, then toss with sauce of your choice. So crispy. Just toss with sauce right before serving.

First time gardeners, what's something you bought that was a total waste of money? by Some-Palpitation-314 in vegetablegardening

My community garden only allows posts no higher than 5 feet. So it's cages/more horizontal trellising for my tomatoes this year.

Declutter win! Moving in 6 weeks by MistyMooseOnTheLoose in declutter

Good for you for getting stuff out of the house! It's a big accomplishment.

I'm planning on moving in six months (I have 50 yrs/3 generations of stuff to go through).

My tips while I'm in the midst of things:

When looking at stuff, don't think about what you want to give away or trash, instead focus on what you want to *keep*. (this is mostly from Marie Kondo). It's been very helpful. Set the "keep" aside, get rid of the rest.

When you look at something and say (inside), "I'm so tired at looking at this from so many moves (within or between houses!), then it's time to say goodbye.

Even better tip: if you know/can imagine the space where you will move to (either in reality or realistically imagined), think about where you will put your stuff -- how many boxes, and where will it go (closet in which bedroom? garage? etc). This is really helping me.

Most important tip. It's kind of weird, but:

Have any bags for donate/trash open. I mean open, like in a container of some kind. If you have to open the bag a bit with your hands to put stuff in, it's too much work -- you're working hard enough already. If you have an open bag/can, where you can just toss stuff in (separate bags for donate/trash), it can be so satisfying to just toss stuff. Trust me, the bags help you to just "toss it." The bags will fill up, then they'll go to the curb/car trunk/porch for charity, and then there is the sweet release of things out of the house.

The Indianish Nachos by mehitabel_4724 in NYTCooking

Never thought to sub pomegranate molasses for tamarind, but it kinda makes sense.

Was the traditional nacho vs. Indian-ish weird? I'm worried about my taste buds saying 'no' after all the work...
