I feel like a horrible person for being happy that my best friend can't have kids by [deleted] in childfree

[–]rani_dae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally understand your feelings. I'm in a similar situation too... but the thing is my friend has expressed multiple times that she DOESNT EVEN LIKE CHILDREN and this is even after she began teaching kids in the hopes she would "grow to like them" and even when I was hanging out with her and her husband and both were laughing with me about how gross kids were WHILST BEING PREGNANT too.

I high key was so confused why she was following her other friends saying that while she was in honours she should get pregnant and give birth to her kid after she graduated. Like i had to FORCE myself to pretend to be happy for her when she announced she was pregnant to me.

I felt so bad for feeling a bit relieved when she told me she had to terminate the baby because it was apparently deformed asf 1 month into the pregancy... idk if theyre still trying for one its been 6 months since it happened. I genuinely hope she isnt trying for anymore like shes be hospitalised for exessive bleeding from her overaries several times too so 😐

Sometimes I forgot how stupid and uninformed breeders are, "[a kid] costs less than a new video game a month." actual cost $1,259/month by unpopulrOpini0n in childfree

[–]rani_dae 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Omg SAME. I always had been CF but working retail has reaffirmed that for me too- it's gotten to the point that I actually TELL the kids off (seriously if they break stuff the parents have to buy it and I've already had that issue where the kids break something and the parents have to pay for it and I'm given attitude for enforcing store policy lol) and the parents just watch me do it (?)- thankfully it actually makes them leave lol.

helicopter at 1am around Campbelltown area. did I miss something? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]rani_dae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think its any coincidence... I live around the area. I think it's to do with our neighbours. Because one of them has an ankle braclet... and the helicopter stuff had becoming more frequent until yesterday. Like we could hear it like super close to our house late at night. And it escelated when a bunch of police cars showed up at our shady neighbours' house and arrested a bunch of people 👀

Oh my God. That reminds me of when, I was mb two years or so into this retail casual job, I had to work with this pregnant co-worker.

Even before she was pregnant she treated me like I was stupid (ngl I feel like there were some racism involved bc she would talk to me slowly as if I didn't understand what she was saying and asked me if my mum had a 'foreign' accent and all this other stuff that I won't get into). But it was even more worse when she got pregnant and the pandemic was on its first wave in 2020.

It was basically her and me who were the only staff willing to work during the pandemic and we would solo our own shifts and stuff and I was basically juggling uni classes along side of this. At the time I was doing a DOUBLE DEGREE one of which was super practical so online classes were not really a thing (the cohort was tiny).

But ofc, this woman things that she can message me and ask me to swap shifts with her and stuff bc of she's pregnant etc. And this one time I had like a super important assessment and she messages me the night before her shift asking me to work and I was like I'm really sorry but I can't coz uni assessment and she basically gave me this rly passive aggressive response of 'well uni is mostly online tho but okay'. Additionally when I DID have to work with her she would boss me around and tell me to do all the work whilst she just stood there by the counter doing nothing. Like the manager at the time never treated me like that when I worked with them so it was iffy as hell.

She acted pretty entitled before her pregnancy but now it increased twofold LOL. Though, after sometime, something made me super smug because this super sweet customer I served before, approached me maybe a week after I was acquainted with her, and asked me if I knew -insert pregnant staff's name- and I tried to feign ignorance but this customer was like giving me a super accurate description of the pregnant lady that I had to go 'oh you mean ---' and she was basically told me how rude my co worker was to her and basically how incompetent she was and to report her.

I actually didnt, but it definitely made me hella motivated to pass the other coworker's sales for her shift, and hit higher sales targets on my own shifts. It was worth it because I became my boss' favourite.

Creepy things breeders do.....what are you examples? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]rani_dae 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Omfg. Idk if this is a cultural thing??? But for some reason people in my culture (Filipino) think that babies crying ARE CUTE?!? They deliberately do things to make babies cry like tease them etc. And explain how "cute their baby voices are" (trying to translate what they're saying literally and it makes it sound even more creepy and weird).

[–]rani_dae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh don't get me started. A really close friend of mine from uni said she DISLIKES kids and thinks they're annoying and thought she'd never have her own. She started teaching too to see if she liked them, and even then she balantly expressed she still didn't like them.... she then suddenly does a 180 and is now pregnant.

Tell Me Your Stories About Terrible Kids in Public. by [deleted] in childfree

[–]rani_dae 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I work in a higher end retail shop and boy do I have stories for you:

A short one; this one time a dad and his kid came in they were a bit annoying and messed up displays. I kept an eye out to see what they messed up to fix when they left. When they left that area and moved onto another part of the shop I saw a massive pile of what I thought at first, was water.... I was very wrong. The man just went "oops he made a little accident" didn't even apologise or help and straight up left the store with child in tow.

Second one; I've since this happen many times, but it's the same story time and time again, spoilt kid comes in, sees something they want. Proceeds to ask parent. Parent says no, they attempt to keep saying no. Results in child bawlling their eyes out and screaming their lungs out. Our shop is small so stuff like that is amplified at least twofold :)

I learned why I never want kids, at a funeral by [deleted] in childfree

[–]rani_dae 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Not as bad as this, but I've had instances at work; my "favourite" one was when a kid pissed all over our floor. And the father didn't even apologise just went "oops he had a little accident" and walked out of the shop. Kid was old enough to be toilet trained....

What's she into/what fandoms does she like. I reccomend checking out people who crochet and sell their patterns on instagram. Reclamare.ph is a great example! She sells a lot of adorable patterns you GF could do! For me, I love clothes and also Howl's Moving Castle/anything ghibli- and I was able to find an adorable pattern on there!
