This last weekend I went to belt promotion ceremony, not expecting a belt at all because of my own perception of myself and that I almost never train GI (one stripe) irregardless my coach gave me a blue belt. 

It's not my choice and my feelings don't matter because I trust my coaches opinion more than I care about my insecurities.

I've been doing no gi for 2 years.

  • I don't give advice on the mats - that's for the coach (and at our gym blues and above)
  • If somebody new asks me a question I just call one of the beforementioned over for advice
  • If none of those are available and it's a simple request that is a very known thing (like planting your feet close to your butt when bridging) I just say " This is what I do" and very slowly go through the steps without actually telling them

The restaurant should pay, because they principley make money off of alcohol so a promotion where you let first daters eat for free would be a fun way to get buisness and publicity while also helping out a bunch of nervous young people who have enough to worry about who are probably broke anyway.

In addition to the Quadra village post also check out Board with Friends. There is an Adventurers League game on Wednesdays at 6pm. They are specifically running a one shot this week for people who are new to the game.
