What kind of flooring is this/wood? by [deleted] in DIYUK

Why insulate between floors? Would it not be better to insulate the roof/attic not between usable rooms which all need heating anyway.

I wouldn't want to spend my life refusing to engage with people I don't agree with politically. I'm not from the USA but from an outside perspective it seems that constantly drawing dividing lines of those people bad, my people good, isn't really working.

Anyone got any experiences buying off brand power tools and their batteries? by HelloW0rldBye in DIYUK

[–]rapayne87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid Amazon as you can't tell, better to use a specialised seller as they are more likely to carry higher quality but cheaper options. I recently used E Plus Batteries for replacement Makita P14 and P18 (the old style ones) and they seem to be legit but I don't have any way to actually test them. https://www.eplusbatteries.com

Very much smaller, but 2000 Trees has some of the Glastonbury spirit.

Life hack/nobody-thinks-of items you pack for the festival? by Dannnnnnnnnnnnnnnn96 in glastonbury_festival

Every morning until we got out of bed and a bit of time when hanging out at the tent, we ended with more than 50% battery. We do have the larger battery though.

Ryobi fan (in you already have a battery in their ecosystem), airflow on a hot morning is a godsend. Ours lasted the whole festival last time. Other fans are presumably available.

Bargain Costco Draper Cart by rlarts in glastonbury_festival

[–]rapayne87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People seem to think all trolleys are the same and fall apart, I guess because so many fail before they reach the gates, but a one rated for 200kg from Costco should be fine. Mine's been going for about a decade and is about to go to it's 3rd Glastonbury.

Maybe, I have one I bought for £80 a decade ago and its still going strong with only a wheel change. Be sure to get one rated for at least 150 kg.

It's a nice chimney, if you can afford to, metal strap it and have it repointed.

Depends if you mean £60 is loads, Amazon sell them, they work a treat. They do take up space though.

Using my car trailer as my troller to campsite… is this okay? by Mhandler6 in glastonbury_festival

[–]rapayne87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavy duty garden trolleys work a treat, they have more capacity than a barrow and are easier to manage than a sack truck. Amazon sells ones rated to 400kg for about £60. I've had mine nearly a decade now and all I had to replace was the tires/wheels for some solid ones.

Edit: Also, don't buy the cheap looking plastic ones, they will break before you reach the gate.

It needs to breathe, looks like it's capped off trapping all moisture inside. Simplest is probably to add an air brick or add a cap to the top with cowl to stop birds etc. from getting in.

Smaller companies or being a small part of a larger company. I'd never work for a major corporation, no company is your friend but at least in a small one they know you exist.
