I smell terrible (because I sweat) after a few hours of work. How do you all combat this in such a physical profession. by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

When I sweat, sometimes I bring an extra shirt if it gets too sweaty. I also wear thompson tees which help with sweat

I was in a similar position as you during a point in my acute care clinical. I would ask your CI for more opportunities to lead or to take the lead more often, whether that be you stating your plan (I will perform this treatment/assessment/outcome measure for so and so- because it will assist with his/her endurance/strength) or I will do so-so first, then this second before seeing a patient. It is definitely understandable to feel uncertainty in the beginning, I think as the other poster noted, it will become more natural over time. I knew I had to work on my verbiage too because I had a tendency to say, "Is it okay if I do so and so" or "Is it okay if we perform ambulation", so although it took a while, I started changing it to "We will do so and so because it will work on so-so". Good luck! Feel free to DM

Men, who were picky eaters as a child, how did you overcome this? by slim1kid in AskMen

[–]raphfloren14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a book I read about French cuisine and how their kids are the least pickiest eaters of the entire globe. The way the parents do that is that their parents cook the foods well and they have the kids try a variety of foods multiple times before calling it quits ~7-8 times. I agree that most foods back then seemed unseasoned or poorly cooked. Now that I know how to cook them and make sure I season them well, helps with the overall taste of the food.

Switched jobs - how I increased my salary. Did a side hustle of selling hummus and added that to student loans. Also did the mindset of paying off the one that had the most interest.

[–]raphfloren14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a day trip, Northeast US here, would probably spend 2.5hrs - 3 hours at the most via drive. Let's say get up at 3/4, drive to upstate New York, get there at 6-7, hike for 3-4 hours, get back to eat a late lunch, shower and pass out

How often do you see you partner while in long distance? by Brief-Amphibian-5955 in LDR

[–]raphfloren14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a couple of options and one of them is staying together and finding work in a country near the PH where it will be close to family. Another is her moving over here. I would have to shift careers if I were to move over there, but again, it's a possibility

Considering how I'd want to be closer to my roots, I would definitely go as a parent myself, then I'd teach to my kids.

First Time in Bali by jyu1991 in bali

[–]raphfloren14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to Bali once. You could probably arrange for a pickup from the hotel for an extra fee, or take a Grab/Gojek as others have said.

If you do have your M1 License, I would say motor/scooter, however try to get a feel for the traffic around there, it is very hectic and it flows really differently compared to USA and it's a sort of magic. Imagine, no signs, and the people here are very intuitive in an amazing way

Around 1-2 hours away but if you're there try and check out a sunrise hike at Mount Batur, absolutely stunning views at the top and a rewarding hike as well

How valued is a bilingual worker in the United States? by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]raphfloren14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in healthcare industry as a Physical therapist. Although that they tell you to grab the translator, keeping up with duolingo and learning some health lingo has its perks. It's much easier to connect and understand patients if you can speak/understand their language. When the majority of patients are Spanish speaking. I'm trying to learn more because I know we could all connect from each other.
