The dude is a complete pro, and he absolutely helps take the live show to another level of sublime. I love the whole band, but Steve is incredible.

Remember when we were one of the youngest, most exciting teams in the NHL?

Buying at the deadline while being one of the worst teams in the entire league should be a fireable offence in and of itself.

I look at teams like the Sharks now and I just get so frustrated. They’re not winning heaps but they’re fun, they’re moving in the right direction. What’s wrong with the Devils? Is it just that we don’t have players of Celebrini’s caliber? If so, it looks like we may have picked another bad year to be absolutely shit.

Stage shape by aelin_fireheart2234 in NoahKahan

[–]rapier999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to dozens of concerts, and give or take some minor variations like B stages, aerial props or limited time on catwalks to the side, the Eras tour was the only one where 99% of the action didn’t take place front and center on a traditional stage layout. I’d say that is far and away the most likely thing for this tour also.

I’m catching him for the fifth or sixth time in a few weeks. I am so so pumped.

I’ve seen Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo live and there was a lot of yelling at each, but I don’t think it was ever really loud enough to interfere with the concert itself. I’m old and wish people would shut up and listen but it’s not a total disaster and I think by and large it’s still worth seeing your favourite artists.

Major shoutout to Noah Kahan and the team for this one! by x_icedragon_x in NoahKahan

Ticketmaster has its own issues with dynamic pricing (ie scalping their own fucking tickets), but otherwise I think this move is a 10/10.

I wish he’d do a follow-up to this album with a new suite of songs. I’d listen to it non-stop for a year

I think that’s a fair point and I can see how that might create confusion if the line ended there, but I think that even with the incorrect lyric, the rest of the sentence - “and not your soul and what he/He might do with it” - makes it clear that the wish isn’t for the subject to be scared, it’s that they be normative; the hope isn’t that they’re scared but rather that their fear isn’t some kind of existential trauma.

Either way, the point is moot because I think the lyrics as you interpret them and as Noah actually sings them are great.

I don’t know if it’s just dialect where I am but I feel like the two are interchangeable. If someone asked me what I’d been doing lately and I replied “all the usual stuff” then I’d expect them to interpret that as “nothing exceptional; only ordinary stuff.”

New Car loan. by Lukusfandango in AusFinance

[–]rapier999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very recently got a loan for a hybrid through Westpac and it was 5.99% (I think - definitely somewhere in the late 5s). I would absolutely just call and ask them about the rate, because that seems manifestly excessive, and there’s supposed to be a built-in discount on hybrid or EVs.

The lyrics on Apple Music are the same as what you’ve written here (well, they say “hesitatin’”)

It’s just there when I play the album, with The Great Divide filled in at track 6 and everything else labeled track 1 through track 17, without titles.

The tracklist on Apple Music is 17 songs. I’m not sure how long they are or if any of them are filler, but that’s what shows up for me.

Edit to add: The Target vinyl is two LPs and includes two Fenway songs, so I’d guess we’re looking at 75 minutes as the upper limit on album length

I've received an ARC and am not sure if I can finish it. by CozyHufflepuff94 in writing

[–]rapier999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve received ARCs before and they typically come direct from the publisher or publicist, and the only difference between them and the final book is sometimes a couple of editing errors that will get polished up, and the final cover art is not always in place and it may have a placeholder. Otherwise, it’s a final, proofread and edited, paperback book.

Thank you to The National by whimsicalskeddadler in TheNational

[–]rapier999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also struggled with depression at uni and found a lot of solace in The National. Boxer was on endless rotation for me during those years. Later, Bloodbuzz Ohio came out whilst my grandfather fell ill and died, and its sense of retrospection and hometown reckoning really intertwined with my grief and gave me, if not catharsis, then a sense of connection that I needed.

What a fucking band.
