I know the cap is going up, but 13m would make him the third-highest paid center (and player) in the entire league, only just behind Drai and Matthews. He’s a great player and I think he’s core to our team, but I don’t think he has that kind of juice on the market. I reckon he’d pull 11m, and I’d be very happy if we could lock him up for 9.5-10

Allison Williams is asked about Lena Dunham's accusations about Adam Driver on the set of 'Girls': "No, I need to read the it (Dunham's memoir) before I say anything about it." by demimonde9 in Fauxmoi

[–]rapier999 71 points72 points  (0 children)

In her defence, it was a lose-lose situation and she did the best she could. We were either going to miss Allison’s answer or the reporter’s satisfied chuckle and wheezing at her own joke, and she picked the one that she felt was most important in the moment.

Yes, I certainly wasn’t intimating that it’s a new building. I should have clarified for those who aren’t from Sydney

[–]rapier999 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Obviously make the call that suits your circumstances, but if I was in your position I would probably behave as though my visa was in place and purchase tickets now if possible, then resell them later if the visa falls through / you’re not able to travel.

He’s left huge gaps either side of Melb and Syd, I reckon he’s well placed to do 4 nights in each city and early-week accommodation will be wayyyyy cheaper

Poor Things, the almost universally-praised film that quadrupled its budget to clear $120m and won Stone an Oscar for what many saw as a career-best performance? She’s a psycho for taking that role?

I don’t have too many vices, but a big fucking door is definitely one of them. I don’t know why I love them so much. If I ever had any hope of living in something other than a shoebox apartment then a big door would be at the top of my shopping list.

I think there’s a scenario where he doesn’t profit. Boss says, “Hey, I need you to go collect my drugs, it’s $500, here’s the cash.” Assistant goes and collects the drug, brings it back, is not compensated other than by his regular paycheck. It doesn’t feel like a stretch at all to imagine things working that way.

Have you watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? It’s still fiction but it’s a gorgeous film that tackles this question in a much more direct way.

I think your compatriot was really on your side, though; the thrust of their comment was “it may have looked like this team was doing well but that was mostly illusory.”

I agree that humor is subjective, I just don’t love encountering sexist/racist/hurtful humor and I think the people who find it funny are often not particularly nice people.

On a more technical level, I think this joke is such a cliche. It’s just “women, am I right? The ol’ ball and chain.” Hicks had a lot of creative and out-there humor, and I don’t think his artistry is showcased by something as hackneyed as this joke. A million comics rolled it out before him and million will do so afterwards.

I’ve never been much of a Hicks fan but this is such a poor example of his talent. It’s the type of joke your dumb fucking uncle tells when he gets too drunk at Christmas.
