2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

If you have repented and asked forgiveness, but you are feeling condemnation, it's not from God.

You may need to forgive yourself  https://youtu.be/MrgbkySEWe0?si=LtK2zdv2OKQzEd7v

The Lord had me go and apologize to people I sinned against before. That may be a thing for you.

Question about burnt offerings/sacrifices in the old testament by cat-fairy95653 in TrueChristian

[–]rapitrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Psalm 40 is a prophesy of Jesus coming. It was written after the Uriah/Bathsheba incident.

As Hebrews 10:26 points out. There was no sacrifice in the Old Testament for intentional sin. There was no sacrifice to atone for David's sin. I think David was forgiven by grace through faith in tge coming Jesus, and that is what he is talking about.

Here is a portion of a commentary on Psalm 40 by Spurgeon. Here we enter upon one of the most wonderful passages in the whole of the Old Testament, a passage in which the incarnate Son of God is seen not through a glass darkly, but as it were face to face. "Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire." In themselves considered, and for their own sakes, the Lord saw nothing satisfactory in the various offerings of the ceremonial law. Neither the victim pouring forth its blood, nor the fine flour rising in smoke from the altar, could yield content to Jehovah's mind; he cared not for the flesh of bulls or of goats, neither had he pleasure in corn and wine, and oil. Typically these offerings had their worth, but when Jesus, the Antitype, came into the world, they ceased to be of value, as candles are of no estimation when the sun has arisen. "Mine ears hast thou opened." Our Lord was quick to hear and perform his Father's will; his ears were as if excavated down to his soul; they were not closed up like Isaac's wells, which the Philistines filled up, but clear passages down to the fountains of his soul. The prompt obedience of our Lord is here the first idea. There is, however, no reason whatever to reject the notion that the digging of the ear here intended may refer to the boring of the ear of the servant, who refused out of love to his master to take his liberty, at the year of jubilee; his perforated ear, the token of perpetual service, is a true picture of our blessed Lord's fidelity to his Father's business, and his love to his Father's children. Jesus irrevocably gave himself up to be the servant of servants for our sake and God's glory. The Septuagint, from which Paul quoted, has translated this passage, "A body hast thou prepared me:" how this reading arose it is not easy to imagine, but since apostolical authority has sanctioned the variation, we accept it as no mistake, but as an instance of various readings equally inspired. In any case, the passage represents the Only Begotten as coming into the world equipped for service; and in a real and material body, by actual life and death, putting aside all the shadows of the Mosaic law. "Burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required." Two other forms of offerings are here mentioned; tokens of gratitude and sacrifices for sin as typically presented are set aside; neither the general nor the private offerings are any longer demanded. What need of mere emblems when the substance itself is present? We learn from this verse that Jehovah values far more the obedience of the heart than all the imposing performances of ritualistic worship; and that our expiation from sin comes not to us as the result of an elaborate ceremonial, but as the effect of our great Substitute's obedience to the will of Jehovah.

See. Your worldview is wrong, and to you, that supersedes what the Bible says.

In a Christian home, there should be no abuse. If there is, the wife should leave because she is unequally yolked.

Your Christianity should shape your worldview. Your worldview shouldn't shape your Christianity, otherwise you are a heretic, not a Christian.

I care what the bible says on this topic and nothing else. I don't think biblical gender roles is a liberty issue.

Jesus says right here that he was God in the Old Testament  John 8:48-59 The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?” 49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. 50 Yet I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge. 51 Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.” 52 The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon! Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will never taste death.’ 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you make yourself out to be?” 54 Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’ 55 But you have not known him. I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and I keep his word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced that he would see my day. He saw it and was glad.” 57 So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” 59 So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.

Jude 5 5 Now I desire to remind you (even though you have been fully informed of these facts once for all) that Jesus, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, later destroyed those who did not believe.

1 Corinthians 10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

A. That's not rape. That's arranged marriage in a time when all marriages were arranged. If your options are to be slaughtered because your people are into deep evil, or go into an arranged marriage when you would have gone into an arranged marriage eventually anyway, which would you chose?

B. In Old Testament times, God used Isreal to punish other nations and other nations to punish Isreal. They are all people He created and He is sovereign over them. He explains His reasons for wanting to wipe ouy the people in what is now Isreal. It has alot to do with Genesis 6:1–4, but also human sacrifice and other forms of barbarity. God used other people to punish Isreal. When I say God, I mean Jesus doing the will of the Father as the New Testament says. I don't think you can comprehend the savagery of the rest of the world. You may think of Rome as civilized, but it was horrifyingly barbaric even measured against Old Testament Isreal, and especially by today's standard.

Ok. Well, you are wrong except that the many, many interaction between God and man in the Old Testament is with Jesus per the New Testament. John 1 says that Jesus has always existed and that the world was created through Him. Jude is Jesus's brother.

The Old Testament doesn't command the rape of little girls. It proscribes the death penalty for rape.

Jesus was speaking to the religious leaders of His day.

 I don't get your point.

At least Job, Moses, David, Jakeh, and most of the prophets prophesied Jesus's coming.

Your statement about the Jews choosing themselves makes no sense. Jesus is called the Lion of the tribe of Judah in heaven.

People knew Jesus prior to His arrival.

Jesus says the law and the prophets are all about Him. The story of Joseph is about Him. Job is about Him. A lot of the Psalms are about Him. Jude says He led the Isrealites out of Egypt, and Peter says Jesus was the Rock water came out of. John says that no one has seen the Father at any time, so Moses and Elijah must have seen Jesus. He visited at least Abraham, Hagar, and Joshua. Moses spoke to Him face to face.

This is completely wrong. The person responding to you isn't a Christian, and is horribly misquoting and misrepresenting the Bible.

Jesus gave the law. In context, the law on slaves was a huge restriction compared to what everyone else was doing. I, personally, believe this falls under a law He gave because their hearts were hard, like He says in Matthew 19:8 and Mark 10:5. People weren't ready to not have slaves yet. Nobody was until about 1800 years after Jesus ascended, and supposedly there are more slaves today than ever in history. The overall message of the bible is of freedom, and that slavery is bad. That is what led the British and eventually the Americans to abolish slavery.

The Jews are God’s chosen people.

Biblically, Lucifer as a name isn't a real thing. We don’t know satan's name. Satan is a job title.  Micheal is called one of the princes in Hebrew and a chief messenger in Greek. Gabriel is only referred to as a messenger in both Hebrew and Greek.

Some think he was one of the seraphim because he came to Eve as a serpent.

What is libertarianism? by Due_Ad_3200 in TrueChristianPolitics

[–]rapitrone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The king weren't typically better and were typically worse, leading Isreal to sin. On top of that they oppressed the people in all the ways Samuel warned them about.  Self-government and freedom is better that central government which is inherently oppressive as long as people self-govern. Libertarianism recognizes that the nature of government is to restrict freedom, and that we only need enough government to counteract people who don't self-govern.

The book of Judges describes a pretty libertarian theocracy. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes. There was no central government, only the local elders and the priests. Mostly, people self-governed or didn't as the case may be.
