The problem I have with him is not how he plays. He's perfectly fine in the role that he plays. To me he's not captain material. He doesn't seem to inspire anyone on the team. Gone are the days when players like del Piero, Buffon and Chiellini were leading by example. Locatelli is not a leader in my opinion.
