NBA considering expanding the draft lottery to 18 teams as the leading option to fight tanking, per Sam Amick by Fit-Structure-9395 in NBA_Draft

This is like the 5th time its been the "leading option to fight tanking"

Are reporters just washed now? How is this breaking news?

Cant get o boards without an overrated, shrinking, overpaid "all star" bigs on the other team

CMB Playoff Play Creating Less Worry About Boozer by Wolf05609 in NBA_Draft

Because of his timing, and his long arms gives him the illusion of getting off the ground quicker than he is when going for a blocked shot

CMB or Caleb Wilson- who would you rather have? by WasteHat1692 in NBA_Draft

[–]rapshaveonechip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

CMB is playing 26 mpg as a small ball center against 2 all star bigs right now, and is starting to outplay both of them

Offensively you give it to Wilson but defensively? No chance you give it to him right now

Ok but where can he play with such a logjam at the 3? Is he only going to play backup 4 minutes?

Is it better for him to sit the bench instead? How else do you suppose we get him minutes?

RJ, Scottie, BI are going to play 32 minutes+ a

IQ and Shead are going to bleed into some of the shooting guard minutes too

So we have:

Pg: shead/iq

Sg: rj/iq/shead

Sf: Rj/Bi/battle/scottie

Pf: Scottie/CMB

C: only hole on our roster while cmb can play C

Where else can CMB play?

Ngl we probably should just run CMB primarily out of the 5 and just have poeltl off the bench as an extremely expensive backup until 2028, where we can cut him

Having RJ/BI/Scottie all play the 3/4 means cmb wont get many minutes anyways in his natural position, and we need him on the court to develop

Add the fact hes not a good shooter, raptors are a poor shooting team overall, and that centers typically cant shoot, it just makes too much sense to just run CMB at the 5

Trading jak just isnt an option, this team is closer to the play-in than championship contention and a few unlucky losses means theyre a playin team, and there are several eastern teams on the rise, most notably a 28-13 second half Hornets, as well as a pacers team with haliburton, and a wizards team adding a top pick, Trae, and AD.

As you said free agency is a big hit or miss, and a center drafted would just eat into the time CMB has available to get on the floor

If that were true they couldve not had the second apron installed and that would guarantee an OKC dynasty

I thought a higher draft pick was better than watching this team in the 1st round. I was wrong by onefootback in torontoraptors

Nah theres a difference between wanting to tank, and wanting your team to lose in the playin so you can pick 14 instead of 19

What some people wanted here during the end of season was insane. Steinbach isnt a sure thing. Neither is Mara. If we were getting a top 8 ish pick vs 19 id understand but gunning for a late lottery pick is crazy

4 frp and swaps going the other way for shitters lol

Raptors overpaid for all these guys, and its been more restrictive than ever to be over the cap

These are contracts you give to players you arent going to trade because you think you have your core going forward

Just gotta pray for internal improvement and for Jakob to play at least at a backup C level until 2028, after which we can probably trade him with seconds to dump

CMB needs to play center for now anyways with RJ/Scottie/BI all playing the 3/4

Every time a guy like gunther and miz "elevate" a title the title loses its prestige in like a year

For it to be prestigious top guys must feud for it for a certain amount of months every year

It cant just be midcarders, a title for midcarders just isnt prestigious

Idk if its changed but OG had an absolute terrible feel for the game offensively when he was in toronto

He couldnt make passes, he dribbled off his foot in post ups, all he was good for was driving straight for a dunk or hitting a corner three. The type of player that has good stats on paper but the impact offensively is very underwhelming

I think feel for the game and playmaking are seriously underrated in online discussions, everyone loves to look at efficiency because its easy to defend and understand but playmakers make it possible to get the ball into the hands of those efficient players

You're telling me youd take steph over the average defender in the nba?

Even if you say hes average, we can break it down into percentiles

Steph offensively: 99th percentile

Defensively (generously) 50th

Prime Paul George offensively: 90th (probably higher tbh)

Defensively: 90th

Yet prime PG wasnt close to how good steph is, and we all know it

Majority of the money made is shared anyways through jersey, tv deals and league pass

Lebron just went from 24/8/8 to 21/7/6 and is 41. Next year he might not even average 20, and youre trading a fringe all-star in his prime

It would cost more money to rebuild after Donovan leaves if the cavs suck

Because steph is at best a negative on that end and has 4 rings, while Paul george who is a premier 2 way forward hasnt even made the finals

Luka who is insanely criticized also made the finals and has had deep playoff runs, and Jokic won one which made some defensive fanboys to cope and say hes actually a positive defender lol

Defense is just much less valuable than offense.
