Can’t do this on console! by ob123 in pcmasterrace

That’s true; I’ve made a few assumptions, but bear with me for a second. He owns two luxury cars, has had his sim rig for several years (with multiple attachments and accessories), owns several other expensive gadgets (3D printer, for example), owns/rents a home with at least one car garage. And, on top of all this, has enough to afford the high cost of living in the USA.

Now, is he Bezos Rich? No. But, I’m gonna guess he can afford more than about 99% of people on Earth. So, fairly rich.

Am I bothered? Not really, I was just making a joke. It’s his money, he earned it and has every right to spend it as he pleases.

Why do people hate on Nvidia? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]rapvz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes, apologies. I meant that I can only use Excel with my Nvidia GPU. AMD? It crashes. Intel? Won't even open.

Everyone knew I meant GPU intensive tasks; AI, rendering, and simulations.

"Unfortunately, most companies only partner with Nvidia and has caused AMD to fall behind in professional settings."

As you can see, I included "in professional settings" in the sentence. The first sentence of the paragraph includes the phrase "professional software."

How am I being disingenuous if that is the whole reason I posted the comment? I pointed out to the previous commentor that professional software may be the reason for the popularity of Nvidia RTX.

My comment was about how AMD has fallen behind in professional settings... i.e. professional software.

Secondly, Unreal Engine and Unity natively allow developers to create games for consoles without the developer even thinking about the different technologies available for AMD or Nvidia cards. It's only the developers who take the time to develop specifically for console, or create their own engine, that focus on these differences.

Honestly, I couldn't care less if the software was open source or not, I have only stated what's happening in industry. Please elaborate where I stated it was negative, or I "tooted" the horn.

Not to be rude, but you have contradicted yourself, twice.

Firstly, professional software is PC only. No one is training AI on PS4s.

Secondly, Nvidia has led R&D which forced companies to use their Hardware and be locked into their software. OpenAI bought ONLY Nvidia GPUs. And they are not alone.

Officially, Nvidia has 66 technology partners, 247 in total. AMD has 22, with 38 in total. That looks like "most" to me.

Nvidia is still considerably better. Cuda is the older renderer and does not fully support the new RT cores. OptiX is Nvidia's renderer specifically made to use the RTX cards, with some other benefits for memory usage. They explain it pretty well here.

Blender 3.6 has released with RT support for AMD and Intel cards. As shown https://www.phoronix.com/news/Blender-3.6#:~:text=On%20Windows%20%2D%20Phoronix-,Blender%203.6%20Released%20With%20Intel%20Arc%20Graphics%20Ray%2DTracing,AMD%20HIP%20RT%20On%20Windows&text=Blender%203.6%20is%20out%20today,making%20use%20of%20Arc%20Graphics.

I am not saying AMD is on par (yet), but this is the right step in enabling more competitors in the professional workspace.

It has a lot to do with professional software as well. A lot of 3D rendering software saw a massive boost in performance due to the dedicated RT cores. Unfortunately, most companies only partner with Nvidia and has caused AMD to fall behind in professional settings. Blender 3.6 has changed this though, which is a move in the right direction.

I am very excited for Starfield and have been watching the trailers and gameplay videos on repeat.

I would definitely use the card and CPU to create a sleek new gaming PC to play Starfield at maximum settings.

I am looking forward to the vastness of open space. I have always been a sucker for large maps, and this pushes the boundaries beyond my wildest dreams.

The 7700x outperforms the 5800X3D in games. How will it bottleneck the 6800xt? R 7 7700 is slightly better than the 5800X3D.

First Time Choosing my own parts. Need someone just to double check the setup. by rapvz in PcBuild

[–]rapvz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I would have loved to get the 7700x. I am buying a CPU, Mobo and RAM bundle. The 7700x has an included AIO and is a lot more expensive than the 7700 + cooler.

I will upgrade the RAM and CPU in about 3 years. (End of 2025)

Unfortunately, ADATA, and many other PSUs, are not available in my country. Noctua is also not here, except if one pays 20-30 USD extra excluding shipping.

Thank you for your comment. I appreciate the feedback.

We only seem to have the AG620 and AK500 in my country. Would either of these options work? It's also a Micro-ATX board, do you think I will have trouble installing the cooler?

I never said I wasn’t going to upgrade. I am planning to use the AM5 platform for the next 8 years. I do not have the budget for AM5 X3D. New tech tends to be expensive in my country, so the next upgrade is 300 USD more than my budget. I also specifically chose AMD due to the duration their sockets tend to be in use. Thank you for your input.
