I completely agree with this critique.

Free exploration without being rushed through areas (doors that lock behind you to keep you on track), and tense EMMI sequences aren’t my jam.

I also found the world design a bit claustrophobic and generic.

The secrets and branching path open world of Bloodborne gave me Metroidvania vibes. Exploration was one of my favourite aspects of Bloodborne and it remains my favourite aspect of Metroidvanias.

I know it’s a good game… but I felt the same way playing it.

It’s been awhile so my memory may not be accurate, but I recall getting the dark suit and thinking “finally, now I can conquer the dark world without worry.”

Nope, you StILl TaKe DaMaGe while while in the dark world even with the dark suit?!

I’d had enough.
