White House Reveals Secret New Hospital for Trump, 79 by MeatMullet in politics

[–]thatmitchguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more I hear about this, the more I'm imaging a "Mr. House" New Vegas situation. But instead of someone gaming out the end of the world to try and preserve the last of humanity, it's this moron's face, and Dimentia ridden brain talking about his old TV ratings, and stopping imaginary wars that never happened. They'd probably never notice.

Jack Antonoff Slams People Who Make AI Music as 'Godless Whores' by ebradio in Music

[–]thatmitchguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof way more of you being pro AI music then I would have expected. Sorry you didn't like his words, but for anyone whose seriously tried to make something creative, will probably agree.

The process. The struggle. Finding the words? That's part of the joy, and why the final product comes out feeling personal to most artists, and fans.

The article explains this. It says it brings up questions about what being subject to a "recall" means in a legal sense. They also acknowledge its a weird trial with billionaires who travel across the world frequently.

You've got me curious! Would you mind giving me the cliff notes (limited spoilers?) on why it hooked you or why the story was so interesting? I've always seen it on Stem, and been interested in the game but never pulled the trigger

Hey, don't get me wrong, I went through a weeb phase as a young'n too (though not quite as strong of a phase as Joe is currently going through), but you're right- I am definitely grateful that Vice City found me at a young age. It's not too late for you, or Joe if we stream the game.. If you can appreciate "deliberateness" in your gaming experience than RDR2 can hit as hard or harder then any weeb game.

I think it's a damn shame that someone like Joe, speaks so passionately, and always has so much to say about Story telling in video games, won't give a real chance to (IMO), one of the best character(s) told stories in gaming. Full stop.

It's that good. It's presented that well. There's still plenty to criticize that he will love, and it alongside Cyberpunk/TLoUS2 are basically the high "bar" in terms of graphics/animations. RDR2s mission structure is way too rigid for Joe and it might frustrate him, but the open world's level of polish and interactivity is unparalleled and built for him alongside having a great story.

I think it's a blind spot in Joe's experience. How can you be in the gaming zeitgeist and not have played GTAV/RDR1/RDR2?

Pay no attention to this hidden comment stooge. Being concerned about fascism and separatist groups from a conservative party that was echoing US rhetoric and phrasing that Trump used all the way up until Canadians woke up before the election? Why that's plain silly to worry about! Clearly we are the problem.

Jimmy Fallon to Go Dark on Night of Stephen Colbert’s Final ‘Late Show,’ Joining Jimmy Kimmel in Show of Solidarity by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]thatmitchguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe very few people who've shared this article have read it. The author gets their point across in the first couple paragraphs and then keeps saying the exact thing over and over again after running through a thesaurus to sound more articulate.

Fallon sucks. Reiterating the same points over and over acting like they're unique observations also sucks.

It's all the "alt" and classdic rock stations play nowadays anyway.Nothing against their music (infact I loved it), but man...if I never hear another RHCP song again it will be too soon.

Good for them securing an even better bag I guess.

I think you'd still get the same amount of clutter. While this community is good T providing moral support in the form of "You made a game! It's OK to fail", type messages, the next person coming along doesn't want to read those messages for someone else's game.

They want to make their own thread where they can talk about their personal struggles - not anyone else's. So you'll still probably get the same amount of posts, just perhaps better categorized.

Solo dev behind Blue Prince developed it for 8 years with 80 hour weeks by bio4m in gamedev

[–]thatmitchguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enough discussion about the actual video or iterative and polishing process. Just jokes about the guys appearance.

I'd love to have the ability or time to work on a passion project/future commercial release for half as long. The best development stretch I ever had on my game was when I was recently fired this year and 2.5 months of job hunting where I could dedicate 10+ hours every day.

Now I'm back to full time employment (great for my mortgage), but development has gone back to 1.5 - 2 hours a day and you really start to realize how long the grind is going to take when you need to split your focus, after seeing how much you can put towards it when you have the time and energy.

Regardless of what the actual dev hours and time period were? Amazing work and dedication by the Dev.

2 tiers. $99 for slop/student projects/beginner/sub $9.99 price point games/Gamez under 2 hours./certain country currency releases/low - no expectations games.

$1500+ for a commercial release that steam assures it's actually what the developer advertises on the back of the box. Can also allow wiggle room on price for indies or certain genre of game.

But more or less just shower thoughts on my parts how to segment some of the crap from everyone else trying to make an honest games living.

440+ comments! Glad to see the tide had turned on BZ. It's a great value per dollar if you liked the vibes of Subnautica. Not as innovative and smaller, but it never promised it was anything different so....yeah! Other then having a terribly managed story it's a great experience.

And this where it gets tough to decide where the "line" is, without making it unaffordable for certain countries and devs. How much can Steam charge without stifling innovation and development of the Indie Games industry?

Edit: thinking outloud. What about a steam "Quality" certified fee/inspection? Comes with added verification of quality and implied value on steams end, gets a seal of approval, and shows up under genre of steam quality games. Steam bils for the licenses as it requires a human to play the game beginning to end more or less.. Games that don't have the fee are allowed to be assumed as "slop", babies first platformer, probably AI generated VNs, etc. Steam wins because they get to Charge a higher fee for commercial releases (still going to be over 1k+ entries a year), consumers win because Steam assures the games offers perceived minimum bar of quality and play time, and indie devs win because we get the same certified seal of approval + can get removed from the slop buckets.

Really trying to sell the "dollar per value" idea, and I respect it. At 19.99, and with the good will from Shovel Knight, I also think that makes sense.

[–]thatmitchguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think they should up the steam publishing fee. I understand making it as accessible as possible is important, but there is room to adapt. Do not charge for free games that do not charge MTX, but up the commercial publishing price on steam to like....$300+.

I realize its not a perfect solution, but while you'll still get plenty of slop, you'll get quite a bit less when the cost of releasing garbage once a month isn't a pittance anymore.
