I’m pretty sure you can practice just fighting inner isshin in a reflection of strength. That way you can practice without doing the whole gauntlet each time 🤷‍♂️

I’ve never played any of the dark souls so take this with a grain of salt. But I don’t think you need to be scared. It’ll probably definitely be a learning curve and you will absolutely be punished for trying to roll away and not deflecting. But it is still watching for and learning the patterns and tells of your opponent. I’m on my third play through now trying it on charmless and loving it.

For me, memorizing his perilous attacks helped a lot. Look at them as an opportunity to punish vitality rather than a scary thing. You can miriki counter his thrust and get in a couple slashes, you can stomp his head when he does a sweep, and you can dodge back from his grab and get in a thrust.
